Men's Tennis
The mens’ tennis team
kicked off the season with a
strong showing against San
dhills Community College last
Wednesday with a “scrim
mage” here at S. A.
The matdi was not part of
regular season play, but was
intended to give the ^
chance to pit their skuls
against ‘foreign opposition ,
and expose some of the fresh
men to college level com
petition before the first con
ference match. Apparently
they were ready, as freshmen
Steve Lowery, Rory Daniels,
and Faison Hester all walked
off the courts with that un
mistakable smirk of victory
on their faces. Sophomore
Earl Fox battled out a
grueling two hour singles and
Stuart Dansby dealt wpH with
a psychological disadvantage
to contribute to the Knights’
“win”. Returning lettermen
Tom Ager, Kim Jrfinson, and
Scott Poole turned on the guns
to put the skids under San-
dhiUs. , ^
Tonight S. A. travels to
Campbell College for the
Campbell Tournament on
Fri.-Sat. Ager, Johnson,
Hester, Daniels, Dansby,
Poole, .. Lowery expect to
find competition tough on all
levels, with several of the big
‘name brand’ schools par-
ticipating-but things are
looking bright for S.A. tennis.
First regular season match
is here, Tuesday at 2:30,
against Methodist College.
