The Lance September 3, 1983 7 Look in Mirror Continued From Page 2 action that can really bring about positive effects. This is especially so at St. Andrews because of its small size. St. Andrews is a good school considering the problems that higher education is suffering through across the coun try. Yet, as with most everything it could be better. In community of this small size and nature, the fact that things could be better but are not is a problem that all students should take a great deal of responsibihty for. We must stop accepting what is as necessarily the correct way of doing things. We must look at what we want from our four years here at St. Andrews and work to reach it, both academically and socially. We as members of this community help create the environment hence the ex perience of St. Andrews. If we are looking for someone to blame when its not quite right, we should look in the mir ror. It is up to us to make our experience here a postive one. There are a lot of good things about St. Andrews and most of them can be attributed to its size. A size that af fords us all in this community, administrator, faculty member, and student alike, the opportunity to make a postivie change in our enrivroment. 1000 South Main Street Scotland Square Phone: 919-276-1348 l_aurinburg, N.C. 28352 Renovations From Page 1 created a more functional and efficient computer center. Defying Gravity David Propst During the summer a faculty designed Psychology Laboratory Facility was built in the lower floor of the Morgan-Jones Science Building. This 3000-square-foot complex has greatly increas ed the opportunities for both faculty and student psychology research at St. Andrews. The flexible design of the lab will allow students to carry out independent pro jects as well as working with the Psychology Faculty on research. The lab has six observation rooms fitted with one-way observation windows. These present a much more natural setting for observa tions, such as the social in teractions of playing children. A sound proof room, controlled light lab, reading room, and other general purpose rooms are part of the facility. Also a proposal has been made for two Apple computers for the lab.
