After not having a team in 1984, the team struggled to start a new program in 1985 with only 8 fresh men. This year's team holds 7 return ing sophomores and six freshmen. Although the team is still very young. Coach IVlarcy Maurer is very optimistic about the upcoming season and hopes to finish in the top three of the Dixie Conference. She feels the experience and leader ship of the returning players will help ease the transition for the freshmen. This year's returning players are: Deborah Ayers, who will lead the knights at point guard; Kewanda Walters, last years MVP who will play both point guard and wing; Patty Romano and Shantina Erwin, who will be at the small forward positions; Deirdre Norris will also be a forward; Ericka Woods and Ann Thomas will fill the slot at center. The new comers of the Lady Knights are: Rene Dumire, Lisa Staf ford, Lorna Biagioli and Melinda Edmonds who will be playing the for ward positions; Lisa Hudson and Monica Florence will be at the wing positions. This year's knights are very excited about the upcoming season and have high hopes of bringing back the winning reputation of the Lady Knights Basketball program. This year's season promises to be successful and invites the entire St. Andrews community to come out and their support to the Lady Knights. The game may change but the fans remain the same!
