STUDENT GATHERING PLACE IN FINAL PLANNING STAGES, LIKELY LOCATION BOOKSTORE by Dave Snyder For two years, students, administrators and faculty have been wrestling with the es tablishment of a social gathering place for students. The debate will end and progress begin when President Perkinson presents his proposal to the Internal Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees at its February 7 meeting. The current location of the bookstore has emerged as the prime location for the gathering place, though the current SGA of fices and the Knight Room are still under continued on page 4 consideration. ANDREWS CAMPUS MAY SOON INCLUDE BEIJING, CHINA IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROGRAM by Dave Snyder 3y the winter and spring terms of 1908, St. Andrews' international program will like ly Include "St. Andrews In China." If offi cially approved, the program opens annual slots for up to 15 St. Andrews students to study in the Beijing Normal College of Foreign Languages. Students wsi««Ud take 15 to 18 St. Andrews credit hours and will be accom panied by one St. Andrews professor. Nine to 12 credit hours nnjst be devoted Co Chinese language study, taught by the ^11-Chinese faculty at the Beijing college. The accompanying St. Andrews profe-sor would teach an additional liberal arts course con cerning Chinese culture. Additional credits could be earned through independent study courses. Another component of the program in cludes faculty exchange. A Chinese profes sor is expected to come to St. Andrews each year to teach the Qilnese language. Students planning to attend the college in Beijing would be able to get a head start on Chinese language and begin study in Beijing at the intermediate level.
