Simpson irom page2 Thus, I petition the attorney general to promote the adversarial system and allow for some winning and losing. I petition the attorney general to allow more cases to be pursued in our court system in an adversarial way. Not only will this improve the skills of the attorney general in her practice of law here at St. Andrews, but it will also add purpose and reason for the establishment of the St. Andrews Student Court system. Let us supersede the negative stigmas of the adversarial system and begin utilizing the system. It is the system that allows for our democratic society and any variation of that system, no matter how imperfect it is, will be nothing less than the creation of a legalized St. Andrews lynching mob. If this is the way that an institution wishes to “educate” its students in law, then I would rather see no judicial system instead of “playing” court. ca»® ,e\e' ■ ■ 29.9® 69.9« QOV Disc Spin from page 11 12th. Look out for this rising American soloist. He certainly knows how to back himself up and join in the right crowd. David Sylvian “Orpheus” from Secrets of the Beehive Virgin Records and Tapes Imageine Suzanne Vega bom in Scotland, stung by a tender- ness not yet realized even though she thinks she’s Luka. And she has a deeply masculine voice fo cused on rich tones, not accoustically sharp stabs of a lonely heart. If your imagi nation is wild enough, this could in fact be David Sylvian. Then again, David Sylvian has provided the listener with much more than just that. This is beyond dinner music. This fits somewhere between the late-night driving music and the bed. Without going into extremes, David has produced a splendid work that shows a keen production and well rounded skill as a musician. His “Orpheus” spins a seriously mystical accoustic sound, based on a dra matic setting that builds with warmth. He combines this accoustic sound (compa rable above with Ms. Luka) with a settled, matching string, woodwind, and brass arrangement. For a single with interesting attributes, try this one - and try it on, late. Aztec Camera "Dep and Tall and Wide" from Love Sire Records So here's the nextnew band (that's actually pretty old) to follow in the foot steps of OMD, Spandau Ballet, and Squeeze. There’s no mistaking the beauty of this cut. A rich, pop melody which spins on and on and gets stuck in the mind. Don't we have enough of this already? Produced by Russ Titelmann and Tommy LiPuma, Aztec Camera return to the new music scene for the first time in more than two years. Their stardom may not be far off, so enjoy them before they become old hat! I Bob McCabe's Jewelers Our Specialty is Quality" t.aurip.burg: 276-2431.
