is the Gathering Piace successful? Not
as of yet, but everyone seems to be rooting for
that glorious day. Not only does the administra
tion v^ant it to be successful, but evidently the
students as well. The Gathering Place came ;
about due to the students' demands, and now
that it's here it has been neglected. I walked in
earlier to see a total of four people, and two of
them were working there.
Steve Tuchten, the overall runner of the Gath
ering Place, said that the fate of the Gathering
Place is in the students' hands. As there are only
about six hundred and fifty students at school
now, due to trips, that means there are only six
hundred people to support the Gathering Place.
Quite a few people were ve;ed when they
learned of the no alcohol poiicy of the Gathering
Place, but the simple fact of the matter is that
those who run it have no choice. They simply
cannot serve alcohol, so we must get used to the
idea. u
As it is not yei doing well financially, they have
decided that the key word is advertise. The
Gathering Place has hired a marketing firm to
help popularize their business. They intend to
start a delivery service, which will bnng the price
up around twenty percent, but most likely still
remain cheaper than off-campus delivenes.
Another technique they will try is having paper
menus distributed throughout the dorms. ey

Student Wants Open Forum
To End Rumours
I
Dear Editor,
Certain information about major decisions
concerning the students activities have recently
come to my attention. Rumor has it that Dean
Greer wrote letters to the town Sheriff in an
attempt to prohibit the students’ activities off
campus. Other heresay has it that the college is
slowly, but surely, losing some of its best staff
members in the P.E. department and Student Life
Office. These staff members are qualified, well-
educated, and fully devoted to the students and
college. Why do we want to replace such whole
hearted assets with underqualified and inexperi
enced cheap labor? And last, but not least,
common talk has it that the position of the college
Attomey General has been taken over by Dean
Greer. Is this true? Do we still have a college
judicial and Legislative System for the
students, conducted solely by the students.
Are all these changes being made in order to
protect the students from themselves, or to sim
ply to add a few dollars? NOW is an excellent
time for an open forum with Dean Greer and
President Reuschling in attendance, with the
intent of clearing up such ghastly rumors.
