April 1, 1989 Glance page 3 Dr. Wooth, Guest Speaker on Student Life Well known psychiatrist and sex-therapist Dr. Wooth an swered the prayers of many students at St Andrews when she agreed to come and speak about campus life. The doctor is famous for her insightful diagnosis about the inner work ings of the normal mind. The topic for her speech was 'Rea soning in the Magic Kingdom: Animal Themes and You.' She choose the Student Life Office because it is the one area on campus that was not ashamed of its psychosis. "Take ze names that it uses to identify iself-cub and sow. Very refreshing to see such candor in a bureaucracy." Dr. Wooth also spoke on the alleged apathy on campus. "Nonsense. I bet ze beds are jumping. Zis school is not suf fering from impotence. Maybe you just haven't met ze right partner-male/female, it makes no difference," she said. During the question and answer period at the end of her talk the renowned speaker fielded some tough ones from the students. One member of the community, who asked not to be identified, wondered how to deal with people who work SLO. "Foreplay!" directed Dr. Wooth, "It is all in ze wrist." "But what about the funny clothes they wear to the of fice?" the student queried. "Tell them to leave their fetishes at home in ze closet. Another student raised the perenial problem of student rights. Dr.’Wooth said that the reason that most students choose to attend this school is because of the illusion of fireedom. The only problem was that a couple of radicals had put into the student bodies heads that reality is better than fiction. "Ve all vant delusions, not rights. Anyone who tells you differently is just trying to stir up ze trouble," she said. She ended her little lecture on a positive note. "Zis is ze last time that you students are freed from the concerns of ze real worid. Take ze Mickey Mouse courses and let ze administra tors of ze Magic Kingdom do their jobs without petty interfer ence. Only in zis way can you overcome your infintile attach ments to authority figures." The visit by Dr. Wooth was sponsored by the Religion and Philosophy Departments as part of their gender-blending con spiracy. The school decided to invite her after they deter mined that St Andrews was unable to afford Rene Richard's speaker’s fees.
