Tennis Team Prepared for Tournament Michael Roberts Editor-in-Chief Conference tournament play for the St. Andrews Men's Tennis Team will resume on April 22-23. Play was halted because of rain during the tournament's original date of April 7-9. Every member of the Knights advanced in the round of qualify ing, which was played indoors, before play was postponed. Winning for the Knights were David Saltman (8-4), Ken West (8-0), Michael Roberts (8-5), Tim Voige (8-3), and Chad Esposito (8-1). The second and third doubles team were also successful in the qualifying round, which was held at Elon College. Emerging victorious were the teams of Mike Roberts and Ken West (8-0), and Shawn Coffman and Tim Voige (8-6). Before play was suspended, fourth-seeded Greg Dorsey had captured a commanding lead over nationally ranked Greg Cassia, of Pfeiffer, winning the first set 6-2. Also still alive in the tournament is the number one doubles team for St. Andrews, Greg Dorsey and David Saltman. Because of the suspension in conference play, the regional tournament was played at Elon College on April 14-17. Again, the Knights earned resp>ect by having three players to get as far as the third round. Ken West and Chad Esposito each advanced to the third round becfore losing. Greg Dorsey managed to ad vance to the round of sixteen, in a sixty-four player draw, before losing to fourth-seeded Zubin Irani, of nationally ranked Atlantic Christian College, 6 3,5- 7,3-6. When asked how he felt going into the conference tournament this weekend, Dorsey said, "This was a tougher season than last season. Because of the weather and stronger competition, 1 didn't get off to a very good start. But right now I'm playing the best tennis that I have all year, and if I go out there and play my best I think I have a shot at winning it."
