Johnson Player of Week
Michael Roberts
Alan Johnson has been
named the Carolinas' Con
ference first player of the
week. Johnson is a sopho
more from Augusta, Georgia
and plays midfield for the
Knights. Johnson has been
credited with a goal against
USC-Aiken, and an assist
against Averett.
As a team, St. Andrews is
oTf to a 2-1 start. The Knights
were victorious over USC-
Aiken 3-1 in their home
opener. Scoring for the
Knights were Alan Johnson,
Bobby Kulinski, and John
Bair on an assist from John
Roberts.
St. Andrews won their sec
ond match of the season
against Averett, 2-1. Scoring
for the Knights were Steve
Hollanger and Scan Haynes.
The Knights suffered their
first loss Wednesday against
High Point College 4-0.
Coach Lorenzo Canalis
stated, "We were outsmarted
and outhustled, but not out
played." He went on to say
that this is the best team that
St. Andrews has fielded dur
ing his tenure here. He
admits that there will be
mistakes because the team is
very young, but added that
they are being very competi
tive.
Canalis stated that the loss
of All-Conference perform
ers Greg Dorsey and David
Southwood-Smith to gradu
ation hurt most from a lead
ership perspective. He
added that junior Chris Kos-
cho had picked up the team
inthatregard. Healsoadded
that Koscho is playing the
best he has played since
being at St. Andrews.
With an injury to goalie
Travis Loeske, Anthony Tar-
satana has assumed the
keeping duties. Canalis
stated that he is very satis
fied with the play of Tarsa-
tana, and that he has done an
"extremely good job."
Canalis added that he is also
happy with the play of So
phomore Steve Hollanger,
who is expected to be a big
factor in the scoring for St.
Andrews.
The next match for the
Knights will be Saturday at
home against Montreal
Anderson. Montreal Ander
son brings a 2-0 record into
he match-up.

Undefeated

The St. Andrews Lady
Knights have not only gone
unbeated in their first three
matches, they have gone
unscored upon. The Lady
Knights began their season
by travelling to Tennesse
Wesleyan, and returning
with a 2-0 victory. They were
able to match this fea t by also
defeating Maryville 2-0.
Clearly their best perform
ance was against Queens
College, which is Division II,
m which they outscored
their opponent by a 6-0
trouncing.

Knights will be Saturday
against Lynchburg, and
Sunday against Warren
Wilson. Both matches will
be held at Coker College,

new ladies' coach Will
Whitehead has done a tre
mendous job with this year's
team, and expects many
good things to come for the
ladies' program.
