The Knights will play a 48 game schedule. The next home game will be March By Michael Roberts Editor-in-Chief George Onyenyeonwu fin ished first for the third time in as many races Saturday at Francis Marion College. George won easily in both the 100m and the 200m. Although he admits the 100m is his favorite race, George has won convinc ingly in the 200m in each race. He also placed first a a UNCW meet in his first race of the season, and then re peated the feat the next week at the Seahawk Invita tional. George gives credit for his success thus far to his off season workouts, his strong work ethic, and the ex perience of running in the nationals last year. George missed All-American by one place last year, and re marked that that experience has been a motivating factor this year. George also added that another reason he com petes well is that his team expects him to win, and has faith in him. "They treat like I am a champion, "he said. George said his goal for this season is to go unde feated. He long-range goal is to run in the Goodwill Games and the Olympics. George says that he is of ten asked why he decided to come to St. Andrews, a school that is small and can doveryiittle for him in way of sponsorships, even though he is one of the fastest run ners inthe nation. "Itellthein that I came here for the envi ronment and the commy- nity, and not for the sakeol track. "The nicest people I have ever met are here at St. Andrews. The faculty is great, and I just lile the community as a whole, Track will take care ot itself, " he said. Onyenyeonwu said that he feels his goals are well within reach thsi season. He says that as a senior he is more determined that evei to make the most of this season, and prepare lor big ger and better things attef graduation. Tennis Team Wins ^3^^Under third year Coach 11 against Alice Lloyd By Michael Roberts Editor-in-Chief The St. Andrews Men's Tennis team won its second match in a row by defeating Wingate College, 6-3. The win brought the Knights' overall record to 2-2, 1-1 in the conference, and 2-1 in the district. William Carter, the num ber one seed for the Knights won in straight sets. 6-2,6-3. Also winning for the Knights in singles were Ken West, the number three seed, and Eric Digons at number six. For the second straight match, the Knights swept the doubles. The teams of Carter and Digons, Michael Roberts and Ken West, and Chris Wallace and Chad Esposito all pulled out third- set victories. The teams of Roberts/West and Wallace/ Esposito ran their records to 3-1, with their third straight victories. The Knights also defeated PfeifferCollege, managing a 5-4 win. Digons and Espos ito were winnes in singles, and a doubles sweep was necessary for the win. The team of RobertsA/Vest man aged to save four match points in order to win, and the team of Carter/Digons saved eight match points to preserve the team win. "I am very proud of this team, " said second year coach Bob Bierbaum, "They've shown a lot of heart ■ and determination.
