Since this is the last issue this semester, and possibly the final edition, hokfitr the answers to
thiscontest(exceptifsnotreaUyacontest,dncerm£iivin£itheanswers)eUewhereinthtsLance
(a sneaky way to£jetyou to carefidly read it!).
Answers to last issue’s Fabulous Fribble Contest:
1. Galapoochie was Rootie Kazootie’s dog. He was originally named after the RCA
dog and looked like him, but his name was changed and he became spotted like a
dalmatian when RCA withdrew its sponsorship.
2. Nipper is the name of the RCA dog, see question 1.
3. Neal was the St. Bernard owned by Geor^ and Marion Kirby on TV’s ‘Topper.”
He was special bccause he became a ghost like his owners when he was killed in the same
avalanche. He wore a keg of brandy around his neck and he liked martinis, or any
alcoholic beverages for that matter. Buck was his real name.
4. Benji played Higgins, the dog, on “Petticoat Junction.”
5. Roy Rogers’ dog was a German shepherd named Bullet. Today he resides next
to Trigger in the Roy Rogers museum in California where both are stuffed.
THE FABULOUS FRIBBLE FACT!!!!!:
In the 1920’s there was an epidemic in Nome, Alaska and medicine was desperately
needed. There was a blizzard, so there was no way to fly it into Nome, instead it was
sent over land by dogsled. Balto was the lead dog of the sled dogs that brought the
serum into Nome. A statue of this husky is in N.Y.’s Central Park.
