SPORTS:
Welcome to the sports section
of The Lance! Before you begin
reading the highlights and other
various athletic propaganda in
this issue I'd like to explain a
change I've made.
From now on you will find
news about the Swimming Club
and the Rugby Club in the sports
section (they are sports, after all).
Now I'd like to make a plea for
your help. I love sports but I can't
cover them all by myself. If you
have an idea for a sports story or
would like to cover particular
events, please contact me. As
you will notice, the sports cover
age in this issue is painfully brief
and any assistance to be found
for future issues is most welcome.
If you are interested please leave
word in The Lance office.
Also, this is all new to me so
any suggestions you have on how
to make the sports section more
interesting are welcome.
Let the games begin!

SPORTS:
Indoor Soccer: Both the men
and women's indoor soccer teams,
although just beginning their re
spective seasons, have been
plagued by injuries. However,
despite this medical setback, both
teams are hoping to put in good
showings this season. For many
players, indoor soccer represents
a nice chnge from the usual game.
When played inside, soccer
evolves into a whole new sport.
The pace is much faster and the
area is smaller. Most players,
while stUl taking the sport seri
ously, see the indoor season as a
time to have fun. The indoor
game is optional for seniors. Both
teams will be competing in a tour
nament this Saturday (February
29th) which begins at 8:00am.
Six women's and eight men's
teams will be competing.
Softball: The Lady Knights pres
ently have a record of 2-2. Still
fairly early in the season, the team
is confident in their ability to end
the term with a winning record.
Freshperson Jennifer Strachen
says "the team has great poten
tial. We have plenty of talented
people out on the field." You can
catch the Lady Knights next game

Baseball: The baseball team re
turned from Florida with a record
of 0-3. While they have partici
pated in several scrimmages
against Pembroke, their actual
season is just getting underway.
The Knights have spent plenty of
time on the practice field and
they are looking forward to a
winning season. The Knights
will be hosting Salem on Satur
day the 29th.
Termis: The men's tennis team,
who at the time of this article has
