CLARK TO SPEAK AT GRADUATION Dr. Charles W. "Skip" Clark III, history professor, and graduating senior Brian C. Doles have been selected by the St Andrews College class of 1995 as commencement speakers. Dr. Clark has been a member of the St. Andrews faculty since 1983. His academic specialties include medieval European history, history of science, and the history of women. Clark currently serves as the chair of St. Andrews Social and Behavioral Sciences division. Brian Doles is a history and politics major. As a prominent face in the St. Andrews community, he serves as a Highlander and chairs the Student- Faculty Appelate Court. Doles is also a member of the Alpha Chi Honor Society and the St. Andrews Honor Society. He recently received a Presidential Leadership Award to Princeton Theological Seminary-the equivalent of a full scholarship. Three honorary degrees will be awarded during the commencement ceremony: Laurinburg native Raymond Baddour, professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will receive the Doctor of Science, John Sylvester, Director of the North Carolina Japan Center, will receive the Doctor of Humane Letters. Dr. Joan SalmonCampbell, pastor of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, Ohio and a past moderator of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), will also receive a Doctor of Humane Letters. Cecelia Smith Warren, from St. Andrews at Sandhills, will join Dr. Clark and Doles at the podium. NCCAAINDUCTEES Seven St Andrews students have been nominated as National Collegiate Communication Arts Award winners. As outstanding communications arts students, their biographies will appear in the U.S. Achievement Academy National Collegiate Awards Yearbook. They are: Jonathan Ellis, Bonnie Cambron, Jennifer Thompson, Tristy McKenney, Kim Ribaudo, Shelby McCrary, and John Hess. Ruiz to Scotland WllO * S WllO (COIlt XnUGci) Once again, Vida Ruiz will be leaving the St. Andrews campus. This time she’s off for a year at Sterling University m Scotland. She was chosen as the St. Andrews representative to Scotland as part of the ongomg exchange program between St. Andrews and Sterling. Vida spent fall semester in Brunnenberg with other St. Andrews students. Jill Elliot is a senior with a major in English and a minor in Asian studies. She is president of the St. Andrews College Student Government association, a member of the Highlander society and a dean's list student. Kathy L. She is president of the Math and Computer Science Club; a tutor for math, computer science and physics; and a physics lab assistant. Jim Ingram completed his coursework in January for a double major in philosophy and communications, with a minor in religious studies, and plans to attend seminary. Ingram's honors and activities at St. Andrews included Alpha Chi, Christian Service Organization, theatre and video projects. He was among the student leaders for a debate on campus that is listed in "The Guiness Book of World Records" emplyed as a landscapes and an organizer for the Film Club, consultant with TruGreen Jed Koball is a senior politcs ChemLawn in Raleigh, N.C major. Koball spent January 1995 While at St Andrews, he was studying in India and served his president of the Christian Service junioryearasStudentGovernment Organization, volunteer with Association treasurer. Other honors and activities have included Alpha Chi, Christian Service Organization treasurer. Math and Computer Science Club president and residence hall treasurer. Stephanie Ladeil is a senior majoring in biology and chemistry. Ladell is a member of Alpha Chi and the women's soccer and tennis teams. She was an All American in soccer in 1994, an Academic All American for two years, All South for three years, and All Conference in both Soccer and Tennis. Ladell received an Lisa Richardson, a senior elementary education major, is a member of Student Senate, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Student Life Committee, General Honors Program, Student North Carolina Association of Educators, PATHWAYS and Christian Service Organization. She has received Academic Merit and Achievement scholarships, is president of her re sidence hall and chairs the Red Cross College Bloodmobile. Business and economics major, Paul Sink, completed his coursework at St Andrews in December 1994 and is now Habitat forHumanity andastudent representative to a summer consultation of the Presbyterian Church's Synod of the Mid- Atlantic. He was a dean's list student, member of the Business Club, tutor for SAGE and a representative at the Business Ethics Conference in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Senior mathematics anii chemistry major, Jennifer Strachan, has been involved in the General Honors program, St Andrews Choral, St. Andre** Madrigals, Student Activities Union, and Math and Compute' IBM Scholarship and the Joann Science Club. She spent Januaiy Williams Scholarship. Susan Pell is a senior majoring in biology with a minor in religious studies.
