Pipe Band sells CD
by Erin Harkes
The loud sounds of repetitious
music filled St. Andrew’s campus a few
weekends ago as the St. Andrew’s Col
lege Pipe Band recorded a new CD and
cassette.
The CD is a compilation of tunes
played by the award-winning pipe band
for the last five seasons. The CD, which
is now for sale, is being sold to raise
funds for the Pipe Band.
The St. Andrews Pipe Band, un
der the direction of Pipe Major Bill
Caudill, began recording shortly after
the end of the last competition season,
in which it finished quite successfully.
The band competed in five competi
tions last season, earning four first
places and one
second place.
The band also
competed in the
1997 Southeast

The CD includes traditional pipe
band tunes, the 1997 and 1998 competi

a drum salute performed by the drum
corps. This drum corps has performed

The band sold the CD at the Loch

April. Proceeds will help fund a proposed
trip to Scotland. The CD costs $15, and
the cassette is $10.

Demi-Sem Watch
When the demi-semester program was first sug- ^
gested, one idea was that students could take a denii-
semester off and travel, taking courses during the
other demi semester. But if you’re planning to take
the second demi-semester off and travel next fall,
you won’t taking courses in business, biology,
chemistry, Chinese, CIS, communications, French,
German, history, honors, math, physics, politics or
; Spanish before you go. None of those disciplines are
offering classes for the first demi-semester. How
ever, there are 11 PE courses and 9 religious studies
courses offered. Better bring your sweatpants and
your Bible....
