•oxemon: loe rirsi iviuvie ^.eview suck. November 18, 1999 Pokemon: The First Movie Review Pokemon: The Firs, Movie, is made from two parts, weird suck and slow • f 20 minutes, a short titled Pikachu’s Vacation ^ght not be so bad^Or jt might be the most horrifying experience ofyour 2 It's 20 minutes of Pikachu, the electnc rat, talking with other Pokemon. Pokemon can only say their own names, so the conversations run like this; PIKACHU; Pika! Pika-pi! MERRIL; Merrill SQUIRTLE: Squirtle! Squritle! BULBASAUR; Saur. PIKACHU; PI-KAA-CHUUUU! These conversations are interrupted every two and a half minutes with Pokemon screensavers, 10 second shots of different Pokemon, dancing and singing their names. It's just likeMTV’s GMo/Groove. Eventually, an evolved Charizard gets his head stuck in a hole. Pikachu must convince some buUying Pokemon to help get him out, while using only three syllables. It was like watching the Care Bears if they could only sav "Green'" "Blue!" or "Pink!" The main attraction, Mewtwo Strikes Back, EPISODE II MEWTWO STRIKES BACK MEWTWO, A CREATION OF EVIL ANIME SCIENTISTS FROM THE DNA OF THE MOST POWERFUL POKEMON, MEW, HAS WOKEN UP. HE HAS ESCAPED ALL ATTEMPTS AT CAPTIVITY BY BLOWING UP THE CAPTIVITY. THIS WENT ON FOR TWENTY MINUTES. MEANWHILE, ASH IS VERY HUNGRY. ASH, MISTY AND BROCK HAVE BEEN INVITED, ALONG WITH THE WORLD’S GREATEST POKEMON TRAINERS, TO MEW ISLAND. THEY TRAVELED HOSTILE WATERS TO REACH THEIR HOST, ONLY TO DISCOVER IT IS MEWTWO! MALICIOUS MEWTWO INTENDS TO GATHER ONE OF EVERY POKEMON AND CLONE THEM. HIS ARMY OF CLONES WILL BE MORE POWERFUL THAN ORDINARY POKEMON BECAUSE THEY WILL WEAR FACE PAINT. little DO ASH AND PIKACHU KNOW THE LACK OF SILLYNESS THAT AWAITS THEM )f2 H/I9/99 4:25 PM
