jtets to The Lance httpV/intranet.sapc.edu/clubs/lance/articles/letters.html April 27, 2000 Letters to The Lance Dear Editor, On Monday afternoon, I received a teaser in my e-maU about the upcoming issue of The Lance, and was appalled when I saw the initial story that was featured. It stated that this issue contained an article regarding who wouldn't be graduating with honors. I can t^e a joke, however, making light of something as distinguished as graduatmg with honors is absurd. Would it not be ridiculing and to some point even harassmg to point out in a college newspaper who would not be graduating with honors? I would like to state that I have no ax to grind on this subject. I have never, nor have I ever wanted to become an honor student. I'll take my B's and C's and go happUy along to the next whiskey bar. In the newspapers for which I have worked, if ever I printed an article of this magnitude, (regardless how cute it was supposed to be) a libel suit would be slapped on me with extreme prejudice. I think that the piece is tasteless and tacky, and it seems to me that by allowing this tripe to be printed, it causes a black eye to The Lance. I hope that the editorial staff of The Lance will maturely consider the response a printed piece of this magnitude causes. The article is the epitome of bad journalism. Sincerely, Chris McDonald, April 12, 2000 Dear Greg, Just wanted to say thanks for working so hard to get The Lance going. I know it's the last month of school, but I think that you got something going with the last issue and the new articles added to it. It's hard to keep putting energy into something that seems hopeless, something that most students don't seem to appreciate, but I don't think The Lance is a hopeless cause. I like to read it, and hopefully with the changes you have made and the work you have put into it, more students will become interested. Thanks, Kristy Reifenrath, April 10, 2000 Back to Front Page !•" 4/28/00 9:53 AM
