LANCE NEWS Week of October 22nd. 3 New Staff (continued from p.l) Professor Bynane knew that he wanted to teach at a small LA college. He believes that it offers the best educational atmosphere. He also told me that here at StAndrcws the theater program is basically being rebuilt. He finds it exciting to be in a position to build an entirely new theater program in his ideal way. What do you hope to accomplish while here? Bynane hopes to restore consistency to the theater and produaion program. He would like to see the program become more accessible to all students and not just theater majors. He would also be delighted if people would come to the first theater produaion “To Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind” or “Thirty Plays in Sixty Minuets” which premiers on November 5-6 and 12-13. Bugs cannot make it through winter time, (i.e.. when it is cold we don’t get eaten by mosquitos in Orange.) This year there are a few main objec tives; make the judicial process more efficient, work with the faculty and administration with respea to aca demic dishonesty, and CO have an intranet system put into lise, where we would have an online student forum. In which you could post questions or any question you may lave. This new system ^ will come close to cottl- pl^ely eliminating the issue of the perception of lack of communica tion and in fact, what las become the lack of the dissemination of information. This could rake possibly into next semester to imple ment. We have to work with the Office of Stu dent Affairs, Computer Services, Communica tions and the Office of nstitutional Advance ment. Also, working parallel with Stuilent Government is the Spe cial Events Committee. We are working on voter registration and a political debate in light of this years Presiden tial race. We in student Gov ernment are plugging away. We still have half a semester left, and there is much work to be done. We are plan ning to have a student forum, a town hall style funaion on Thursday, October 28 at 8;30pm. In the Belk Center. We will have food and drinks for all in anen* dance. At this funaion we plan to illustrate to you what we are doing and what we are plan ning to do. Also we plan to take question, comments, concerns and any ideas you may have. We must take this even serious, if we plan on having any colleaive voice with the Administration we all must work together. Think trees being cut down, hot water. All that stuff- we need every ones help. To move from this, our major goal for Student Government this year is to increase Communication and the dissemination of informatran. We ftcl the best way to do this is an online student forum. Like a nKssage board. Where we stu dents could log in and post questions concerns ideas homework help. Anything that you nee inforniatk)n about post it and some one else that knows the answers or has suggestions, can give you a reply.. We are also working with the acf- ministration with new student recruitment, we had an open house the week end of Oaober 16-17. It was a wonderful suc cess, all our numbers are up. I at this time would like to make a request of everyone reading thisl When you see a campus toiir or visiting students, smile and say hello. That is what this campus is about and we need to show it and not just talk about it. Thank you for raking the time to read my artide and if you need anything please fwl free to ask.
