Student Life 5 “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it." - Voiuire Where has the Bluegrass Gone? Reid Mosher i; (Caeland Gamer playing the guitar. Picture Courtesy of Reid Mosher) Zane Williams and Caeland Gamer put a ‘hurtin’ on it’ Thursday night as they jammed impromptu before the show in the Knight Life at Saint Andrews. They impressed the crowd with songs such as “Where Has the Bluegrass Gone,” “Oh my Goodness, What Have I Done and When Can I do it Again?”, and “Until Then TV Can Fill the Void,” which celd)rated the single, college life. The Knight Life filled up to the brim with interested St Andrdds who listened eagerly to more songs and more Tennessee bom anecdotes. Zane shared his wisdom from college, the Legend of Zelda as related to the Nashville, Tennessee- music scene, and other experiences. He told his story about winning a 20,000 dollar pot from a competition judged by Kevin Bacon, the answering machine story, the snake on the road story, all irreverent He then followed by playing a touching song like “How do You Get the Magic Back”, and a cover of John Winter Formal Lyndsey McCall Every year the club, Campaign for a Cause, hosts the Winter Formal to raise money for AIDS prevention. Mark your calendars for “Seasons of Love” on December 2, 2006 from 9:00pm-1:00am. Last year we had an overwhelming amount of people in attendance! We hope to top the $1,000 that we raised from last year. It cost $4.00 in advance and $6.00 at the door. Soon $10.00 T-shirts will be sold during lunch and dinner. You will also be able to purchase $1.00 luminaries that will be placed on the steps of Belk. Our goal is to have luminaries be lit up all around the Belk Center; with your help we can reach our goal. At the formal you can get your picture taken with your best friends or your date for that night. Anything purchased will all go to the Red Cross in AIDS/HIV prevention. Over 40 million people are living with AIDS/ HIV and St. Andrews wants to help with the fight against this disease. December 1, 2006 is World AIDS day and it has been tradition to make the Winter Formal a benefit for this cause. Interested in helping with decorations or planning for the Winter Formal? Please contact Lyndsey McCall at mccalllm@sapc.edu or ext 5028. We have a great group planning this year but we always encourage new comers! So get your formal attire ready for the last night of celebration before Final Exams. Lennon’s “Imagine;” a ddightiiil mix of sttxies and down-home tributes. “Working Man,” being played in die photo in the pre-jam session, was one of the most touching songs about the purity of a simple life, “tomoiTow there’H be bills to pay and promises to keep.” The Nashville native talked back and forth vnth the students and his lovdy young wife who joins him on the road. The musician hit home with a lot of Bluegrass loving students and impressed music lovers of whatever particular musical background. Thanks to Jen Bruner f(X organizing y^ another awesome show.
