The Rocky Horror Show Review By Jocelyn Morgan John Coppolo strikes a pose as Dr. Rank-n- Furter. Pfioto courtesy of Rooney Coffman. Fasten your garter belt, come up to the lab and see what’s on the slab! The Rocky Horror show paid a visit to the St. Andrews campus last month. Opening night for Rocky Horror was Thursday, October 23rd in Farrago with performances that continued through October 25th. The show stared a young, squeaky clean and uptight cou ple Brad (played by freshman Spencer Phillips) and Janet (played by Emily Thigpen) who sought refuge from a passing storm in the castle of Dr. Frank- n-Furter (played by John Coppolo), a mad scientist and transvestite originally from outer space. What the young couple did not know was that Dr. Frank- n-Furter was about to unveil his greatest creation-Rocky (played by Patrick Hogan) all while hav ing a bit of fun with his two reluc tant guests. The show was spawned from a movie first released in 1975. The St. Andrews adaptation of Rocky Horror was directed by Gretta Friesen and accompanied with narrations by a wonderfully entertaining Richard Vance. Other cast members included Cam Abernathy, Laura Elena, Cory Krutsch, and Philip Rachford. The show, with a sort of tasteless elegance, proved to be wonderfully entertaining and allowed the audience to feel as if they themselves were a part of the show; a list of risque call backs encouraged audience par ticipation, and was greatly sup plemented by Dr. Harris who passionately led the majority of callbacks.
