Burton made two stops on day lowering her goals against average to 0.86 and increasing her save percentage to .850. Senior Kerrie Brown (Irondequoit, N.Y.), junior Hannah Sheffield (Lexington, N.C.), and freshman Jenna Hughes (Lusby, Md.) scored the Knights three goals. Brown started the scoring for St. Andrews with the eventual game-winner in the first half. Brown drilled a free kick into the back of the net for her team-leading third goal of the season. Sheffield doubled up the Knights lead before halftime scoring SPARTANBURG, S.C.—The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women’s soccer team recorded their fourth straight shutout en route to a 3-0 Conference Carolinas victory over Converse College in the regu lar season finale on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Knights, who were sitting outside of playoff contention one week ago, have won three consecutive league games to catapult into the 2008 Conference Carolinas Tournament as the No. 7 seed. St. Andrews finishes the regu lar season with an 8-6-3 overall record and a guarantee for their first winning record in the programs NCAA Division II era (since 1995). After starting the conference season at 1-4-0, SAPC was 4-1-2 in its last seven conference games allowing just two goals over that span to finish with a 4-5-2 in the league and earn a bid to the conference tourney for the second straight year. The Knights will be the No. 7 seed and will travel to face No. 2 seed Queens University of Charlotte on Monday night at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals. “After the way we started in September, I give a lot of credit to our players to remain positive and finish the her first goal of the season on a corner kick by sophomore Sam Frazer (Goldsboro, N.C.). Another corner kick by Frazer set up an insurance goal for the Knights in the second half. Frazer’s service was headed by freshman Shana Schroeder (Newark, N.Y.) over to Hughes, who netted her sec ond goal in three games in the 87th min utes. Frazer finished with two assists on the day while Schroeder just missed adding her first collegiate goal to go along with her first collegiate assist when she missed a penalty kick in the last couple minutes of the game.
