Being a university will enhance our

Good move. Makes sense in light of
new programs and opportunities for
current and future students.

The name change for the school will
help the school with recognition in the

I loved the news because I have heard
the notion many times during my terms
at alumni council. I know there is no
difference between college & university
except other's perspectives. I trust the
administration to do whatever is best to
attract new students and push SA into
the future in a positive way. - Laurie

a little desperate. Perhaps we will grow

I think it's favorable because we have
not really seen any change yet to the
school. So as for now we have a ways to
go in changing the school over to an
university also at the same time money
wise it is not good because we have
noticed that there are issues switching
financial issues over. Hopefully it will
Contest for a Cause
Update

Editor
In the June — August edition of The
Lance, you were all informed that there
were exciting things to happen with
the Contest for a Cause.
Well, nothing good is easy — or so it
seems. It has been said that the more
difficult something is to accomplish,
the more rewarding that accomplish
ment will be. So, yes, there are big
plans — big, big plans - associated with
Contest for a Cause, but you will just
have to wait and see what they are.
Details are still being worked out, but
I can assure you, they are in the works.
One thing I can tell you though, the
more Contest for a Cause branches
out, the more usefiJ it wiU be. So,
there are some community partner
ships planned, as well as some creative
collaborations, etc. all for the good of
education and community.
More to come, as details are made
available. Look for updates in the com
ing weeks on our Facebook Page

was brought on this past summer (with
the help of Renee Jones) to cover local
sports. I later was approached by
WLNC's owner Gary Gallman to be
the sideline reporter, which meant that
I would join Richie and the voice of the
fighting scots, Kenny Fore.
Once I heard that Coach Schueler
was involved I knew we would put out
a wonderful product for the communi
ty. Not only do we broadcast the foot
ball games, we have our own live Satur
day morning show called Scots Sports
Saturday.
"Every Saturday during our last seg
ment we do St. Andrews sports and
through our affiliations with St.
Andrews we are able to provide free
advertisement for the college," Schueler
says.
With both of us living in Scodand
County and working at St. Andrews, I
knew it would be a great way to bridge
the gap between the community and
our University and help inform the
community about whats going on at St.
"Think Globally, Act Locally”
ings through out the year, and with us
calling games on Friday nights, it helps
keep St. Andrews on the minds of peo
ple around the county," Schueler said.
On our Saturday show, each week we
have a guest from around the commu
nity come on to give us their input.
This year so far we have had the
Knights wrestling coach Joe Baranik
and Volleyball coach Angela Franke as
our guest.
In the coming months we will have
numerous players and coaches from
around the Knights Athletic program
on our show.
"I feel this is a way that I can give
back to the Laurinburg community, as
well as the St. 7\ndrews commimity in a
way that nobody else can,"Schueler
says.
The Laurinburg community has been
hit hard the past ten years by companies
leaving our county. Richie and I have
seen what football has done the past
nine weeks to bring a community
together. Go Scots!
