After living with you folks the
last three or fout week-ends, and
especially lasc week-end. I was re
minded of a thought that I would like
to pass on to youc It is from part
of a few vei'ses from the Bible (Ec
clesiastes 3:, 1-8): "To everything
every purpose \onder the heaven—a
time to get, a time to lose, a time
to keep silence, a time to speak.45"
Applying this to our school, I
think there is a time for everything,
too. Your primary purposo hero is to
attend clar.see and preparo your les
sons, However, recreation is a part
of bveryone’ss day. Ko one likes to
see a boy have good, clean fiin better
than I; yet I like for him to budget
his time and play when he has time to
play. Some boys decide to go some
place and start off without asking
what the trip is going to cost them
selves. Several students have wanted
excuses to leave school Friday morn
ing to attend Saturday football games
when they could have left Friday after
noon and made any point in the State
in time for the game. Some students
even leave school at eleven O’clock
and miss a class when they could just
as easily plan to leave at one. One
boy wnnt shopping during class periods
when he could have shopped in the after
noon. Some go off during vacant periods
and expect to return for class. Every
thing is fine if he makes it; but when
he is delayed, ho wants to be excused.
So my advice is for you to budget
your time, plan wisely, use your points
only for things you particularly want
to do and thereby avoid penalties. You
should also think of the fact that you
are making a record, whether good or
bad, that you are going to take with
you when you leave hero, I have not
made a complete study of Veterans’
Administration regulations, but I under
stand it is getting harder to change
schools and keep your allowance, and
that they also inquire into the progress
you are making from time to time; and
again it is to your advantage if the acho
school is able to give you a good rec
From now on, plan carefully and see
to it that you are at the proper place
at tLo proper time®
