December, 1937. THE S. N. S. MESSENGER Page Seven S. N. S. Training School Poems SUPPOSE By Harry Jones, Sixth Grade Suppose you are just worrying About something that will hap pen the coming day, Just go out and have a good time Suppose you don’t know your les sons, Why go to school looking sad? Just make the best of those you know And the others won’t be so bad. Suppose you are not in good health And you do not gain in weight. Don’t worry just say to yourself I have an average at any rate. And I suppose you will tell some one else Just what I have told to you But learn to think and say the best About things that happens to you. CHRISTMAS And chose who were vigils keep ing Heard melodious athems clear, While those who were sweetly s.eeping In dreams, felt Heaven was near. We Have at S. N. S. By Henry Dawson, Sixth Grade ’Twas night and a blaze of sp.en- dor Flashed over the winter sky. Where a star, serene and tender. Beamed once in the years gone by Above was a sheen of glory, Below was the spo.less snow. While the hushed winds sang the story The sweetest that mortals know. Above in the King’s bright dwell ing The seraphs were singing o’er What the shepherds heard when telling The hours as they watched of yore; A.though in Heaven was gladness. The beautiful ear.h was still, For children of men in sadness, Knew not of peace and good-will. They knew not it was the evening That Bethleham’s star come down And the greatest gift was given Wnen the Lord of Heaven came down. Each silent with his sorrow, Njr cared for another’s woe; So, forgetful of the morrow. They saw no;/ the bright star’s glow. Then the Christ-Child speaks and sixnt Each musical angel stood: ‘We alone are keeping Christmas, That was made for mortal’s good. Away, Away, where my children On earth are silent and alone. And tell them the joyful tidings, While I wiJ visit my own!” So the angels glad.
