Page Four STATE TEACHERS COLLEGE NEWS LETTER March, 1948 CHATTER BOX Symera Hall girls are always good for a little competition with other girls on the campus. M. P.’s case is no exception. E. N. is really overflowing with energy. Po you think that C. S. could possibly be the reason? C. B. i.-i the sugar in “Salt Pork’s” cuffee. When she isn’t there he us.ually drinks it un sweetened. I wonder which month E. W. will be electricuted by B.C.T. Not really dead but what’s the dif ference ? W. A. B, Jr., is on the fence and doesn't know which yard to fall in, F. M.’s or M. W.’s. Take my advice and stay on the fence. It seems as if J. A. came into E. P.’s life like a gush of wind and blew "Blue” completely out of her life. “All is fair in love and war.” M. H. feels as safe with “Brad” as Q. I. R. M. must be going to the World Series, everytime he is seen he has his “bats” along. If J. C. doesn’t hurry and make his decisio.a, “Sneaky Pete” w'ill bring her down front. He went out of State to see R. B. but R. W. blocked his kick, and he didn’t see her. E. T. do you think that you can make it with W. N. since M. B. stepped out of the picture ? D. L. G. have you made your decision between S. B. and K. D. ? Hurry, someone has his eyes on them. M. H. what happened? M. V. R. seems to have taken D. C. H. be fore your eyes and not behind your back. The Casanova of ’48 has been detected so early, and the second quarter has just begun. He has changed hcises in the middle of the stream twice already. L. S. you’d bettor watch your step be fore someone does you as you did M. H. S. P. was flying high and mighty uitil M. S., a freshman, popped up and changed his halls to a noose. E. H. took up with B. W. where M. M. left off so V. P. vacated. L. C. gave a free shot to E. R. ^3 What Thanksgiving Means To Me with J. B. Are you going to try it E. R.? R. L. P. is a “Pick-Up-Girl.” Am I right or v;rong J. J. ? U. H. you are really doing ex cellent work with J. W. For the past two years about this time, he was “Just a Rolling Stone.” E. W. ' P. tried for him. R. M. made 385 miles to Gas tonia, N. C, and left M. F. purch asing at the College Grill for J. By E. L. A. Lawson To some Thanksgiving means a table With food to eat as long as they’re able; A movie and a dance or two And visiting the sick some too. To me, it means a little more; To carry food to all the poor To carry clothes to those in need To banish gioom from those who grievo. To me, it means the joy of living To make for some a great Thanks- j giving i To spread joy and sunshine every- : where, I To let folks know that Christ is here. To me, it means if we must live To our poor brothers we must give. To let this be our daily prayer To freely give—to freely share. Thanksgiving means that we are free That each one has a destiny To reach it, we must slowly trod The lowly path that leads to God. t Thought of the Month— Co-Operation W. C. finally made his break with E. G. when W. M. V. gave him his walking papers. F. N. what happened to J. B. ? Did M. H., a freshman, take you out? We all know W. M. has put you out. The P. T.'s of last quarter are really sinking and crying “Let Him Roll, Let Him Roll” to New York for their Rural Economists class instructor. L. S. is our second “Dinah Wash ington,” yet she sings “Sincerely Yours,” v/iion she sould be sing ing “Since I Fell For You,” to W. T. W. A. W. what is E. P. doing? We know about your nice gift, but his eyes are roaming. Do you sup pose they’ll land on the chick in Bias Hall ? W. M. H. try checking on your appearance for you could at least make a hit with your perfect mate, E. L. if you do. J. W. why did you give your engagement ring back to Harry. Do you think Eatmore will ever give you one. We usually have “Pin-Up-Girls” on our Campus, but it seems as if E. F. really talks about L. B, enough and she still rides with him. I guesp E. W. would also if she had a fair break. Right E. W. ? E. M. J., I really don’t know which wind to call you, Nort’ Wind, West Wind or “The Wind from Nowhere,” but I do know that you blew in just in time to blow W. T. away from M. N., M. B. and M. P. They all are huffed at you. H. G., it seems as if you’re real ly in love with L. S. but you cer tainly control your emotions when M. W. comes around. “Ballerina Skirts” and the “Gib son Girl Blouses” really look fine on some people. They are quite fashionable on our campus, but not when they are three inches above our “bobby sox.” Do you dig me girls? A. A. you can take my word. If G. P. doesn’t get hepped to himself, and wake up, he will be lost in a fog. Our campus is one exception in the state; I am sure that the others don’t have Kings and Queens that aren’t mates. We have K. C., Q. G., and Q. I, Someone also feels ao if she’s Queen Es ther. It ain’t the guns nor armament Nor funds that they can pay; But the close cooperation. That makes them win the day. It ain’t the individual. Nor the army or a whole; But the everlasting teamwork Of every blooming’ soul. J. Mason Knox Round-Up of Football (Continued From Page One) Champion Squad. Along the sea son there were several stand out performers. As a result. Captain Ray Swain was unanimously chos en for the all conference team. Basnight, Cooper, McKinnon, Fal len and Daniels won berths on the second.team, which gives an indication of the type of team unity rather than spectacular in dividual perf()rmance. Two players will be lost from this year’s squad through gradu ation, “Pitts Chapel” White, a speedy and versatile half back that runs v/ith gliding motion which enables him to elude many would-be tacklers. The other loss will be “Bert” Todd, the 155 pound mite who v/ae moved from half back to cente rand proved to be an important clog in the defen sive strategy with his devastat ing tackles from the back-up PO" sition. “Bert.’’ will be remembere as a great inspirational player.
