Intercollegiate track at this
institution has concluded an
other season but the hopes and
expectations for the coming year
have only begun to blossom into
a reality for Mr. Stallworth and
his young tracksters. They have
competed on the campuses of
Virginia State College, Hampton
Institute, Fayetteville State Col
lege and at the annual ClAA
Track and Field Meet.
Members of the 440 relay
team are Andrew Allen, a fresh
man who runs first leg; Charles
Singleton, a sophomore who runs
second leg; William Powell, a
freshman who runs third leg and
Benny Hodges, a senior who
runs as the anchor leg.
Hodges has won the 100 yard
dash at the Elizabeth City and
Virginia State Invitationals. He
has also run fourth at the Fay
etteville Invitational. His best
time in the 100 yard dash was
9.7” and 21.8” in the 220 yard
dash.
Andrew Allen has won the
220 yard dash at the Elizabeth
City, Virginia State and Fay
etteville Invitationals. His fast
est time in this event has been
21.6”. He ran second in the 100
yard dash at the Elizabeth City,
Fayetteville, and Virginia State
Invitationals. His fastest time
in this event was 9-8”- Despite
his rather slow take-off from the
starting-block, AH^n managed to
run fourth in the ClAA Cham
pionship Meet with a time of
9-7”.
Powell’s best time in the 100
yard dash has been 10.0” and
22.8” in the 220 yard dash.
Singleton has completed the 100
yard dash in 9-9” 22.2” in
the 220 yard dash.
