She come to us in 1951, But now it looks like her best days are done. Tillie served well, did all she could. And still does the best she can, when she should. But time rolls on and Tillie now groans For resting pastures away from home. When winter comes, she doesn’t run her bes t She has thoughts of her long awaited junkyard rest. She hopes that someone will sympathize And her age, miles, and con dition, realize. When the roads are straight and the earth is low, Tillie still has the spirit to get up and go; But when the trips are long, the earth hilly Caroline Trailwoys replaces Tillie. Knowing that she must go to the land of fenders and parts. Remembering her loyal service really breaks our hearts. But we have to acknowledge, bless her soul. That Tillie now has become a thing of oId. Ah — Look at Old Tillie We Salute He r The bus that we hope to secure will be one which will last for many years, and which will be a source of joy and pride to everyone. The time and money spent will not be re gretted . She Has Seen Many Homecomings Come and Go! A student wrote an article in the STC NEWSLETTER in 1937 expressing his opinions on how badly Elizabeth City State Nor mal needed an activity bus. Well, after awhile, a bright blue and white bus, which came to be known as "Tillie” joined the College family. In writing his article, the student ex pressed his desire for the bus, if and when it was secured, to last for many years. And guess what - it has... many years. THE COMPASS now salutes Tillie for her many years of loy al service to the College and its community. What's this ? Our Alumni in cooking class?
