ECSC's History
In Pageant
The history of Elizabeth City
State College was beautifully
told through a pageant written
by Miss Evelyn A. Johnson
Anniversary Committee Chair
man, and Mrs. Helen M. Caldwell.
The history, presenteH in
narration, drama, choral speak
ing and dance, was given in four
parts: part one, "The Founding;”
part two, "The Struggle;” part
three, "The Transition;” and
part four, "The Dawn of a New
Era.”
Special praise is given to the
Modern Dance Group, The Col
lege Choir, The Instrumental En
semble and the Speech Choir for
their participation in this
production.
Scene From "The Little Foxes'^
The College Players presented "The Little Foxes” by Lillian
Heilman during the celebration.
This production was significant for two reasons: it was the
first production of the season for the_^ group and it was the first
production to be given in the New Little Theatre, which is found
in the New G. R. Little Library.
Band Gives Anniversary
Concert
The ECSC Concert Band pre
sented its contribution to the
75th Anniversary Celebrations
by rendering a "spectacular”
performance in Williams Hall
Gymnasium on the final day of
celebration.
The band, under the direction
of Mr. David Williams, played
the following selections:
"Fanfare”, from "Concert
Suite” by A>sh
"Die Meistersinger,” by Wagher
"Geensleeves”, by Reed
”1823 Overture”, by Tchaikow-
sky, Arr. by McLeod
"Sorrento”, by Dencriscutto
"E Pluribus Unum, March”
Like its College, the ECSC
Band is "on-the-move.” The 60
piece aggregation was decked
in "fancy” new uniforms at the
concert. This was the first per
formance that they made in their
new attire.
The College was well repre
sented in this excellent perfor
mance.
