Dr. Marion Dennis Thorpe, upon accepting the symbols of of
fice as the Sixth President of Elizabeth City State College, brings
with him an impressive background of training and experiences
which will be an asset to the future of this college and community.
Despite obstacles, barriers, and shortcomings. Dr. Thorpe now be
comes, not only Our President, but a living symbol of success to
all who strive to be. At thirty-six, the ndtive of Durham, North
Carolina also, becomes one of the nation’s youngest presidents of
