Father Anderson made comments on the moral issues involved in ac cepting or not accepting the pill. The discussion was very enlightening. Much was learned from the dis cussion because of the variety of opinions that were expressed. The Forum Committee, one of the many commit tees of the University Center, has presented a series of films all sum mer on many subjects of interest. The committee showed films related to race relations, popula tion explosion, birth con trol etc. Working with Mr. Larry Martin as the ad visor to the Forum Com mittee is Mr. C. J.White. Miss Velmar Rountree is the chairman of the Com mittee. (Continued from Page 1) Those who rem ained for the three weeks ses sion were again back to the books for more studying from July 28 un til the closing date. Be cause there was a limit ed number of students en rolling for the three weeks session, only five courses were offered. This unfortunately forced many students to leave who had hoped to attend. The returning Vikings for the fall of '69 will be surprised to know of the many changes around EC SU. Even its name has changed and we still find ourselves referring to EC SU as a college. The new food service that we now have under the Slater Company is quite pleasing to the stu dents and the comments about the food has changed for the better. The Vikings will all be glad to hear of this improve ment in their food ser vice. The fees for the fall of '69 will be shocking to those Vikings retum- INVITES FROM PRO TEAMS Coach Tom Caldwell, veteran grid mentor at Elizabeth City State Uni versity, has accepted invitations from several professional football teams to visit their camps. He will begin his tour of pro camps next week by looking in on the New York Giants at Fair field, Conn., and the New York Jets at Hempstead, N.Y. Says Caldwell, “Since we use the pro-type of fenses and defenses here at Elizabeth City State, what better way is there to learn and pick up new ideas, than to watch and talk with the pros?” The following week Caldwell plans to observe and ^chat with the Wash ington Redskins at Car- lilso. Pa., and the Bal timore Colts at Westmin ster, Md. If time per mits, with opening drills at ECSU creeping up on him, he will journey to look in on Jethro Pugh and the Dallas Cowboys, and Johnny Walton and the Los Angeles Rams. The West coast trip, if taken, will also enable Caldwell to observe rookie Wade Robinson at San Diego. Pugh, tackle, Walton, quarterback, and Robinson, defensive back, developed collegiately under the tutelage of Caldwell. Caldwell, who came to Elizabeth City in 1952 as an assistant coach to the power of the old EIAC conference, became head coach in 1961, after watching the squad re peatedly humiliated in the rough Cl A A conference. Since that time the Hus- ton-Tillotson College and Indiana University grad uate has built a respect able grid machine that now ranks among the top three in the CIAA, and rates near the top, na tionally, on team defense. Of interest to CIAA S{»rt fans Coach Caldwell will travel to several pro camps with William Law son, head football coach at Virginia State College. The VSC Trojans and the ECSU Vikings will meet for the first time, at Petersburg, on Sept, 20th, in the 1969 grid opener for both teams. ing and especially the out of state student. It has been urged by Mr. Sterling, manager of the university’s bookstore to bring more money for books in the fall. The prices have increased considerably.
