After we have gone through all of these brief ly outlined procedures, the papers are finally taken to the local post office for distribution. The cycle once again commences, Mien for news. WE AbK. XHAT all club RE PORTERS GET TO WORK and submit news. We put forth great efforts to cover all major acti vities on campus our selves. Under the circum stances our staff is doing a great deal to put out YOUR PAPER. We are seeking to improve but only with your coopera tion can we become a great newspaper staff. We are AWARE of your criticisms and would like to inform you that we are making efforts to im prove your paper. We re alize that ±e news may be pretty old by the time YOU the students, facul ty and administration re ceive it. Is the news old to the alumni and our oth er readers who aren’t on campus? We strive to in form these readers too. We have printed errors sometimes, but in the past we have not had proof readers. This job was done by the editor who read all articles for the next edition. We send our paper monthly to the Associate Collegiate Press to be evaluated. Each month we receive criticisms and comments on the paper from these journalism experts. The honor rat ings from A C P are All - American, First Class, Second Class, Third Class, and Fourth Class. Our last rating was second class for the year 67 - 68. A couple of our new staff members tell the in side story of the COM PASS. Deloris Owens said, “I would have been working on the staff a long time ago, if I had known that there was so much work to be done.” Mi chael Miller said, “Yes have criticized the Com pass but now that 1 see the circumstances under which this staff has to work, I think that we are doing well.” Don’t be so quick to criticize your Compass. Don’t blame the staff for everything. YOU join in with us, submit articles and YOU will see a better COMPASS. UFF NEEDS YOU!
