September, 1971 Number 1 Welcome To Vildngland WELCOME TO THE STUDENT WORLD Considering the fact that you’ve probably been flooded with welcome speeches from the President to the Business Manager, I would like to give you a different kind of wel come. Moreover what I really want to do is deviate from the formality of things and give you a more in formal view of the University. In this newspaper you will be intro duced to such things as greek life, student leaders, outstanding events in basketball and football, notes on the informal life of the marching band and the university choir and many other things that goes to make up the student life at ECSU. I’ve tried to make the paper as informal as possible. I want to get the satisfaction of knowing that you enjoyed this paper. We hope that this school year 1971-72 will be a successful and rewarding one. WGA has many exciting and intriguing events that we hope you will participate in and enjoy. Student involvment in any student organization brings about changes and all of us agree that changes must be made. As you have noticed, WGA dues have been increased to $3.00. We hope that you will fulfill your fi nancial obligation in order to bring new and better enterainment to our campus. Again, we are happy to welcome you back!! —WGA Letter From MGA what’s Going On, Vikings? Within a few days we will all be back in the groove and working to ward another magnificent year here at ECSU. It is my sincere wish that we take our job seriously and work diligently for the betterment of ECSU and the acquiring of a sense of relevance. The times are calling for the power and energy of Black people and we must not only adhere this but must help louden that voice by our knowledge and youthfulness. Fellow Vikings consider yourselves caught in a dilemma and your only escape is unity of purpose and re levance and meaning to your exist- ance. So let’s get it on!! Peace!
