Jurope We sang two selections on the KLM 747 flight as the plane declined in alti tude. We arrived at Am sterdam’s Schiphol Air port and were met by the Emhage Tour agents. Af ter claiming our luggage, we boarded the bus and started for Arnhem. We had lunch in Arnhem at a beautiful restaurant. We have a lovely scene from the second floor. The long trip from Arnhem to Col ogne, West Germany was enlightened with country scenes and beautiful land scapes depicting the country homes and the churches. The freshly plowed country fields were also inspiring. We stopped at the border so that we might change our travelers checks into German marcs. We en tered the city of Cologne in late afternoon. Co logne, formerly a Roman city is now one of Ger many’s busiest and mod ern cities. The city is highly industralized. I was shocked to see the Mercedes - Benz being used as a taxi because in America this car is very expensive costing a- round $10,000. Cologne has a popula tion of approximately 850, 000 inhabitants; The Bambert Cathedral, built in 1248 and completed in 1830 is one of the more outstanding sites in Co logne. The C athedr al rises some 400 feet in the air. Another very in teresting point about the Mercedes - Benz. The car is named after Mr. Benz, the producer. Mr. Benz called his car Mer cedes the name of his daughter. We arrived at Hotel Salm at 5:10 p.m. During our stay here we met some brothers from Af- Ica studying in Cologne, fhat night we went out on the town to a club that eatured African sisters ind brothers, it was very dee. The next morning we lad our first breakfast, lard rolls, butter, jam ind tea or coffee. We left mmediately after break- ast for a drive to Breith- Jieid, West Germany. We Jtopped for a tour of the 4inidomm - a miniature irea consisting of all the Jerman castles, cathed- Ve continued from here o Wuppertal. In Wupper- al we had lunch and af- er lunch we were free to JO shopping for souve nirs. After two or three tiours of shopping we re turned to the bus to con tinue on to Essen, West Germany for the concert.
