F NOVEMBER, 1975 the compass «* w « Ebony Fashion Fair Is Held On ECSU Campus By Diane Dye The Ebony Fashion Fair was presented last ■ Wednesday night in Williams Hall on the Elizabeth City State University campus. The commentator for the gala event was the lovely Ms. Von Gretchen Shepard. A cast of eight beautiful females and two striking males presented fashions based on the “Natural Feeling”, the 1975 theme for the fashion fair. Several prominent designers were featured in the event. Names such as Bill Blass, Pierre Cardin, Geoffrey Beene and Stephen Burrows were connected with many of the lovliest fashions. Designers such as Noriko, Gloria Sachs, and Capucci are featuring the more unusual looks for fall and winter. The fashion show presented the newest styles in swimwear, lounge wear, evening wear and sportswear. The swimwear was mainly the new “String” bikini look with exciting cover-ups.. Loungewear and evening wear emphas>' sheerblack, scarving and fur. The sportswear collection was centered around fur, cullottes, boots and capes. The commentator revealed the prices of two of the outfits. One, a pink satin evening gown accessorized with pink fox was priced at $4,000. Another outfit featuring fox and black fur had a price tag of $2,000. The main message from the Ebony Fashion Show seems to be natural; natural looks and colors. Rust, tan and gray, plus shades of brown are expected to be the fashion colors for fall. The Ebony Fashion Fair is produced by Mrs. Eunice W. Johnson, wife of Ebony magazine publisher John Johnson.
