With all five starters returning along with most of the bench from last season, the Vikings should be a devastating force in the C.l.A.A. Led by All American, Thomas Blue, The Vikings will open their season in a new gym. The Big plus for the Vikings this season will be depth and experience. As forwards, the Vikings will have Martin Towe and Jeff Jones. Towe is a two-year starter, while Jeff stepped in at mid-season last year and did a fantastic job. The Vikings can also depend on Juan “The Swann” Johnson to come off the bench and given the Vikings a boost. 'Hie guards seem to be in tact. Robert Powell and Doug Hudson, both starters last season, will handle the task of moving the ball for the Vikings. The Vikings can also rely on a good recruiting year. Freshmen prospects will contribute to the Viking team. The C.l.A.A. will be tougher than ever. J. C. Smith has improved 100 per cent with the addition of transfer students and Blue Chip fresh men recruits. J. C. Smith should prove to be a strong contender. Norfolk State, hurt by the graduation of Eugene Cunningham, will still be a tough competitor. Look for the race at the top to be between Elizabeth City, Virginia State, Norfolk State and J. C. Smith.
