March 1978 COMPASS Page 3 B. B. Sims. Many students complain about having problems and no one to turn to. For this reason “The Compass” has divised a section to handle those special problems to help students. We may not be able to answer all question, but we can advise you as to who will be able to. Any and all questions should be addressed to B.B. Sims and turned in to the Compass Office. Dear B.B. Sims, I’m a freshman and I’ve been having trouble collec ting my refund checks. The people in the Business Office keep telling me I owe money and I don’t. What should I do? Penniless Dear Penniless, Yours is a very familiar situation, all too many students experience this problem. It seems someone in the business office isn’t doing their job or you overlooked a bill you owe. If you’re ab solutely sure you haven’t overlooked anything, go to financial aid and have them check their records. After checking carefully, if they have found no error, ask for a thorough explanation as to what you owe money for. Hopefully your problem can be resolved in one of these ways. In the future, remember to hold on to all receipts no matter how old they are, that way when an error is made it will be on their part, not yours. to work on it. That’s what the university needs, more people, who are willing and really want to see changes for the better. Dear B.B. Please tell me why a menu isn’t posted in the cafeteria? Puzzled Dear Puzzled, The only reason given at the present time is that it’s not convenient. Many times the foods ordered don’t get back in time to be posted. Dear Ms. Sims, Just recently I found out that the guy I’m dating is seeing another girl here on campus. Although he says they are just friends, she’s telling other people he’s hers. I’m really sick of this. Please advise. Desperate Dear desperate, It seems this young man is misleading you or this young lady is wrapped up in a fantasy of her own. Whatever the case I think the three of you should sit down and talk it over. If your young man isn’t willing then it seems he has something to hide. In the other case, if he agrees the fault may not be his. Dear Miss Sims, I hate this school because it’s so untogether. Why can’t the faculty and students set up a committee or something to organize things more? Untogether Dear Untogether, I don’t believe there’s an organization- like you men tioned for organizing the university, but it’s a very good idea to start one. It would be nice if you contacted the proper authorities and get Dear B.B. Sims, I’m a junior here at E.C.S.U. and I’ve been having trouble with two girls, who are harassing me. I don’t want to result to physical violence, but if they continue to bother me I will. What do you suggest? Upset Dear Upset, Harassment is definitely against the University’s policies. I suggest you see your counselor and let he-she advise you as to what authority can handle this. It is a very serious offense and could easily end in student court, provided you have enough evidence to support you. A Tribute To Humphrey By Michael Powers Very few men in govern ment have had the clout of Hubert H. Humphrey. The death of Senator Humphrey will leave a huge leadership gap in the liberal movement. Also people wonder if the democratic party in America will die. HumphrQ^ was the liberal champion of all minority. He had a major role in more legislation, than any other man in the public eye. He was the driving force behind the Civil Right Bills of the 60’s, Educaton Aid from federal government, Peace Corps, Medicare, Disarmament Agency, and American Arms Control. Humphro^ started a fire as a delegate at the 1948 Democratic National Con vention. He was celebrated overnight, because he demand a strong civil right plan at the party platform. He believed at that time the Democratic Party should get out of the shadow of human rights, and come in to the foreground of human rights. \ Arthur Langford demonstrates his depiction of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, in the play “Life of a King.” Astrology Fascinating To Many By Lillie M. Vaughan Whether you believe in astrology or not it proves sometimes entertaining and interesting. Many people feel it holds the key to the in nermost being of man, while others feel the whole idea of astrology is a hoax. Whatever your opinion of astrology it can sometimes be fun to find your sun sign and compare its prophesy with your life. ARIES (March 21-April 19), the ram symbolizes “I am” in its ultimate spiritual essence. They believe strongly in themselves and deal much with the mind. Arlans have the tendency to be active and aggressive. TAURUS (April 20-May 20), the bull with “I posses” as its keynote. This is true because Taurians usually are possessive with material things as well as their loves. They are known for their stubborness. GEMINI (May 21-June 21), the twins symbolizes “I think”. It is the mental sector of the zodiac. Gemini natives are highly intellectual, ever aspiring to forms of philosophy, and life styles that benefit mankind. Like the twins, they often portray a dual personality. CANCER (June 22-July 22), the crab, in a dramatization of earthly and heavenly emotions, represent “I feel”. Being emotional, like they are they tend to hide their emotions beneath a cool, calm surface. Cancer people are often home-loving. LEO (July 23-August 22), the lion symbolizes “I will ” because of the Leonine im pulse to rule, they also do not like failure and will try to suffice it, at any cost. The lion symbolizes this sign very well, although it’s a known fact that Leo’s bark is much worse than his bite. VIRGO (August 23- September 23), the virgin with the keynote “I analyze”, have the tendency to be over critical. They seek perfection in everything, which can sometimes be depressing because perfection is not always obtainable. Virgoans are the virgins of the zodiac, only because they sometimes decide not to wed. LIBRA (September 23- October 23), the scale, symbolizing “I balance”, and by nature they do. In any given situation, they look at both sides in order to get a balanced view. In doing this the Libran finds peace and harmony. SCORPIO (October 24- November 22), the scorpion symbolizes “I desire” in the most passionate sense con ceivable. No other native in the zodiac goes after what they want (usually sexually, but in other ways also) more intensely or with greater determination than does a scorpion. This is thought to be the sexiest of the zodiac. SAGITTARIUS (November 23-December 21), the Archer uses “I aspire” as a keynote. Perhaps the truest mystical essence of the Sagitarian native is locked into its in nocent sincere expression, its fiery love of life, its profound and far-wandering curiosity. They approach many situation with a child’s heart discovering many potentials of life. CAPRICORN (December 22-January 19), the goat symbolizes “I utilize”, the mystical essence of capricorn is literally a clear vision of life. Its pessimism lies in an inborn knowledge that worthy stations in life, love and happiness come as long- sought prizes, won after years of step-by step climb ing over encttess obstacles. AQUARIUS (January 20- February 18), the water- bearer symbolizes “I know”. Of the twelve signs of the zodiac, none is more selfless than the aquarian. They make no extra effort to un derstand others who differ or clash with their tem- perments. TTie are not soft or easy and may indulge in heated discussion with ap parent enjoyment. PISCES (February 19- March 20), the fish with keynote “I believe”, is the spiritual result of the eleven sun signs and their distinct characteristics. Pisces is the most gentle and sympathetic of all the signs. The native of this sign is capable of all too much forgiveness, they also love freedom. Be careful in handling the fish, he can be slippery when wet!
