DID YOU KNOW:
A. That Coach Bobby
Vaughn coached and ran
basketball clinics in Mexico
this summer?
B. That Johnnie Walton is a
first class speaker and has
many tall tales to spin?
C. That Jill Walton,
Johnnie Walton’s wife, has
written an excellent book
entitled “Never Give Up?” If
you can’t find a copy in your
local bookstore, send for a
copy c/c Johnnie Walton,
Athletic Department,
Elizabeth City State
University. We wiU see that
you receive a copy. (P.S.)
Make checks payable to Jill
Walton ($6.00).
D. That there were no
seniors on last year’s
basketball team? All regulars
will be returning for the 1980-
81 team.
E. That it cost over $3500.00
to give just one full
scholarship for an out-of-state
Athlete at ECSU?
F. That no State funds can
be used to support In
tercollegiate Athletics in
North Carolina? See why it is
important that you give to the
AtMetic Department or buy a
Season Ticket (Football only
$20.00).
G. That there are no State
appropriated funds being
used to construct the outdoor
sports and physical education
complex?
H. That are no funds to put
up bleachers, erect a press
box, install restrooms or
construct a concession stand?
I. That you can help us buy
the bleachers by donating
$50.00 for one seat to ECSU
Athletic Complex?
J. That the ECSU Student
Government Association
plans to donate $1000.00 per
year for the next five years;
the foundation is gomg to
authorize a loan of $2000.00
per year, but that will not get
the job done? We need
$100,000.00 to get 5,000
bleacher seats.
K. That the CIAA has
scheduled all its Spring
Sports for men and women at
Elizabeth City State
University next Spring?!!??
Will we be ready for track,

BITS
AND
PIECES
1. CIAA Tournament
Tickets are now on sale. You
must hurry! Send your check
for $30.00 per ticket plus $1.00
for postage and certifying
payable to R.L. Vaughn or if
you prefer, send a money
order payable to the CIAA.
2. Construction delays and
goof-ups will force us to play
football at Northeastern
Stadium this year.
Homecoming on Cam
pus????!!!!
3. Recruiting has been
tough this year, but we will be
competitive. The Alumni
Association gave less than
$3000.00 last year and nothing
at all this year. We need
support to survive.
4. The athletic coaches
have very meager recruiting
budgets, so we need Alumni,
Boosters, and Fan help.
Would you like to become an
ECSU footbali or basketball
official scout? We need your
assistance; all you have to do
is talk to people in your
community, see some games,
get names, weights, heights,
addresses, and phone num
bers of GOOD prospects and
their coaches and call or
write us. If interested write
us and we will send you the
materials. You may iscover
the next “Johnnie Walton” or
“Mike Gale.”
