From the rLaiiGT 9 s It seems a shame to say that the beginning of a new year is really the end.One tends to think of the coming of Spring as a time of rebirth- ah.but not so with the ole semester system;this means that Spring is the beginning of the end of the school year. This,in turn, means that we are in the process of wrap ping up another year at ECSU and starting to make plans to replace all of the openings left by the out-going seniors.lt means we say good-bye to Charlenzo Belcher as the '83 SGA President and Lynnette Watson as Miss ECSU—it even means saying good-bye to me as Editor of THE COMPASS.But don’t fret, you will all remain in our hearts- as we graduating seniors hope we will stay in yours. The staff is working over time to put out our last edition of the year and we want to leave you with the best. Our last issue will be the biggie- “The Year at ECSU”-with all the trimmings and a last look at the past year. If you or your organization want to put an article or photos in the last issue, please contact me at Ex.349 or room 238. (Deadlines will be posted later). As always, I wish to thank the entire University Family for their support this year. SGA We would like to say a very special “Thank You” to everyone for giving the COMPASS the opportunity to put out this Valentine’s issue. Boses are Red Violets are Blue. I’m Glad that this issue is out, And I KNOW that the staff is TOO! Later, Lynette Gutridge Editor ELECTIONS! ELECTIONS^ The excitement mounts as plans begin for the election of SGA officers for the 1983-84 school year. Plans for elec tions and procedures are all underway and dates have been set. Any student interested in running for an office must submit his or her letter to the SGA office in Ridley Center no later than March 16. The campaign “kick-off” is March 21 and speeches will be made on April 15. The SGA is planning a large scale professional political campus event. The Chairman of Elections is David Whit field, who stresses complete participation by the student body. The presidential debates are scheduled for March 30 in Ridley Center. This will give the students the opportunity to question the candidates and will assist the students in making a wise vote. SGA President, Charlenzo Belcher, requests all students participate and cast their votes. Let’s all show our Viking spirit and vote. Voting is a right we possess, let’s put our right to use. Robin, Robin, burning bright Full of wonder, “out of sight. ” Filing and typing and forever phoning. Always smiling and never moaning. Simply behold our precious wonder. Never cross, never a blunder.
