Don’t Miss “The Bus" “Bus Stop”, the romantic comedy by William Inge, will be the next major production of ECSU’s University Players. Scheduled for three performances on February 24, 25, and 27 (Thursday, Friday, and Sunday), “Bus Stop” wUl be presented at 8:15 each evening in the Little Theatre, located to the rear of the G.R. Little Library on the ECSU campus. The story of a cowboy who falls in love with a sexy nightclub singer, “Bus Stop” was a long-running Broadway hit, later made into a suc cessful movie starring Marilyn Monroe. The ECSU production promises to be every bit as funny and ex citing as the orginal. Shawn Smith, the play’s director, has assembled a strong cast of highly talented students. Christal Gresham, a freshman from Columbus, Ohio, wiU appear as Cherie, the singer who is pursued, made love to, and finally kidnapped by Bo Decker, a 21-year-old cowboy being played by Steve E. Bly, a sophomore business major from New York City. Ms. . Gresham has appeared in “Showboat” as Queenie and in “Anything Goes” as Bonnie at the Columbus School of Performing Arts. Bly has been seen in the recent film,“Fort Apache, the Bronx.” The role of Virgil, Bo’s sidekick, will be played by Robert J. Walker, a junior English major from Newark, New Jersey. Julie W. Osmon, a junior English major from Bluefield, Virginia, will play Elm a. Stephanie Allen will play Grace, the restaurant owner. Ms. Allen, a freshman from Virginia Beach, was seen recently as Suzy in “The Hot L Baltimore.” K.C. Harney will be seen in the important role of Dr. Lyman. Harney is a native of Elizabeth City and a junior at ECSU. Carl, the bus driver, will be portrayed by Gregory Albritton, a junior business major from Paterson, New Jersey. He has acted in several previous ECSU productions including “Day of Absence” and “You Can’t Take It With You.” David Raper will play Will Masters, the sheriff. Raper, who is also designing the sets and lights for “Bus Stop”, is a junior from Elizabeth City. Raper has acted in the outdoor drama “The Lost Colony.” Kenneth L. Lanier is Production Stage Manager, the position in which he successfully guided “Hot L Baltimore” to completion. He hails from Elizabethtown, N.C. and is a sophomore business major. Assistant Stage Manager is Ricky L. Jones, a sophomore from New Bern, and Burdette Johnson , a sophomore from Seaboard, N. C., is serving as Assistant Director. “Bus Stop” should provide a great evening of en tertainment for people of all ages.
