This motivates students to stress academic achievement and to attain and to strive for success in doing so. This quality in itself streses, only in part, the quality of knowledge and learning shown by our students. Dr. Bishop M. Patterson, chairman. Submitted By Floyd Horton Scholarcade ’83 promises to be even better than last years Scholarcade ’82 which was a resounding success, raising over $5000 dollars in scholarship funds. The word Scholarcade was coined from two words which describes it’s purpose and source of energy--scholarship and cavalcade (a parade of talent.) A Scholarcade is an event for the family and/or a general audience. It is a time when faculty, staff and ad ministrators shuck their academic regalia and ivory tower ways to sing, dance, and act as would be Hollywood stars. Fun will be had by all, and you will be guarenteed to have a ball in Williams Hall on Sunday March 27,1983 at Scholarcade 83. Three students are presently on Scholarcade Scholarships at ECSU; Jarona Burrus, Willie Lowe and Anthony Lewis. The purpose of this ex travaganza was emphasized effectively as last year's Scholarcade - Scholarship recipients (Jarona Burrus and - Willie Lowe) were in troduced to the audience. Both students are academic “Blue Chippers” and are doing very well. Anthony Lewis, a freshman is also a Scholarcade Scholar.
