Walker Among the various campus activities, we are all familiar with the “One-on-One” basketball tournament and the annual “Spring Step-In” which are both sponsored by Miller Brewing Company. Have you ever taken notice of the lovely brown-eyed lady with the big smile who directs the mentioned events? TWs young lady is Teresa Anita Turnage, a junior Special Education major from Scotland Neck, N.C. Teresa holds the position of Campus Representative for the Miller High Life Com pany. Her duties include promoting Miller High Life on campus and directing all activities sponsored by them. When asked how she ob tained this position she replied, “My name was selected along with several others. We were interviewed by the area Manager and Distributer. I was chosen to be the campus representative here.’’The resentative position is a part of the Miller Brewing Company’s Marketing Program. The Campus Represen tative is a salaried position, which pays on a bi-monthly basis. The position is awar ded to sophomores and held until the representative graduates. Besides the “One-on-One” and annual “Spring Step-In” the Miller Brewing Company also donates prizes to various organizations on campus and co-sponsors other events. The CIAA tournament in Norfolk is also sponsored by the corporation. Teresa was asked how she felt about the position she holds. She replied,“I love doing this. It’s very in teresting and gives me loads of opportunities. I’ve been to Milwaukee for a mini workshop to be introduced to my position. I also get to attend all the games in the CIAA tournament free of charge. I feel my position as campus representative is also beneficial to my career. I have met many people in high positions which could help me in the future. I get to meet many students from other places that I probably would have never met.” Besides campus representive, Teresa is also in the SGA cabinet. Secretary of the Special Education Club, Second Vice-President of her chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and a Junior Counselor in Doles Hall. All rising sophomores should be on the look out, for next year this time the Miller people will be searching for a new representative; but for now Teresa is here and definitely on the ball. It’s Miller Time! Intercollegiate Music Association student reps from ECSU Band The department has eleven majors and are recrutiting more for the newly developed programs. The Music and Related Arts degree deals with art, dance, drama, and creative writing. Some career possibilities are; Community Arts Director, Director of Arts Council, and Director of Arts Center. Music Movin ’ by Tracy Hoggard The Music Merchandising degree offers a combined music and management degree. Students are prepared for jobs in areas such as; Music Publishing, Music Retailing, and Talent Agents. Some of these majors are being placed in areas such as Miami, Los Angeles, and New York. The Music Department at ECSU consists of two new program tracks leading to a B.A. in music. The depart ment is proud of the organizations that deal with music and their success. The well-known and deeply respected ECSU Choir did their traveling performances during spring break. They performed in Virginia, Washington, DC, Penn sylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The ECSU Band is also a successful organization. They have done quite well in all of their performances. This year they played in Hampton, Fayettville, and Winston- Salem. All, in all, the Music Department is well represented at the ECSU campus and in any per formance they have done this year and I’m sure the years to come. The ECSU ■delegation was headed by.. Kappa Delta Chapter President, Marcia Davis, senior Special Education major, Moyock, N.C. Joining Miss Davis in at tending the regional con ference were: Janice Cum mings, junior Special Education major, Columbia, N.C.; Thomas Eichler,.senior Industrial Arts Education major, Elizabeth City, N.C.; Roger A. Griesinger, senior Industrial Arts Education major. South Mills, N.C.; Letitia Hendricks, junior Special Education major, Henderson, N.C.; Judy Rankins, senior Education major, Edenton, N.C.; and Cathy Sharber, senior Special Education major, Elizabeth City. By giving the invocation during the Saturday morning Laureate Breakfast, Miss Rankins joined Represen tatives from Georgia State University, the University of Virginia, Clemson Univer sity, Tulane University, the University of Central Arkansas, West Georgia College, Denison University, and other regional in stitutions in participating in activities of the regional conference. During Saturday’s day-long series of forums, the Kappa Delta Pi Southeast Regional Conference focused attention on such issues as “The Dropout Problem; Will They Be Here To Teach in 1984?” The Consequences of a Technological Society; The Tyranny of Ex-pertise,” “ Classroom of the Future - How Will You Use Your Computer?” and “Beyond 84; Motivation to Master the Challenge.
