It was announced in the Viking Headquarters of the R.L. Vaughan Center that Coach T. J. Little landed Willie Ryan of Bertie High School in Windsor, N.C. Ryan, a versitile athlete, has lettered in three sports (football, baseball and basketball) the past three seasons. He averaged 1.6 touchdowns, 100 yards plus rushing and 16 tackles per game. At 5'10" and 190 poimds, Ryan played fullback and outside linebacker for the Eagles of Bertie. He has been selected to play in the 1983 East-West All Star Game and as the 1983 Area Player of the Year (Roanoke-Chowan). Also signing with ECSU was Bertie's standout defensive back John Sessoms. Sessoms, a 6'3" and 190 pound ball hawk, had seven interceptions to pace the Eagles. Coach Little stated that, “Sessoms is very deceptive.” “You never know he is there until he intercepts the ball and then he's gone.” “Coach Chip Williams had done an excellent job with the Bertie High School Program and we are extremely delighted to have two more of his players joining us at ECSU,” Little concluded. After weeks of interchange and recruitment dialogue, Eric Nesbitt, a 6'4" 260 pound offensive tackle from Woodrow Wilson High, signed with the Vikings. Nesbitt, a four year starter from Wilson, was their most dynamic and productive lineman. “He’s a tough kid with a natural sense for the game” said Darnell Moore, Head Coach at Wilson High School. “Nesbitt will add bulk to our offensive line and should see plenty of action during his rookie year,” states Coach T.J. Little, the Vikings Head Coach. “We missed out on several area tackles from Gumberry and Mur- freesboro,” said Little. “However, Nesbit will more than cover that loss,” he concluded. ECSU Vikings announced the signing of Kenneth Moore, Jr., an All Conference defensive tackle from Jamesville High School in Jamesville, NC. Moore, a 6'4" 220 pounder, is the son of Mrs. Elvita Moore, » former graduate of ECSU. “Kenneth is an excellent athlete with extremely good academic credentials,” said Coach Little.
