Frances wanted to attend college after graduation from Chowan High School in 1945, where she ranked third in her class. Her dream, however, of becoming a teacher was hindered by lack of finances. Frances married and raised two sons. She worked for the telephone company for 33 years. Over the years her dream of teaching stayed with her, and now she is training to reach her goal by studying Early Childhood Education at ECSU. “/ will be very proud to say that I am a graduate of ECSU” Sports, music and art are her hobbies. Asked how she manages all the housework and homework, Frances replied,“It is a matter of good scheduling.” What does Frances think of ECSU? She thinks the faculty, staff and administrative per sonnel are highly qualified and dedicated to their jobs. She feels they try to make the students feel welcome and help each to work up to his potential. “I will be very proud to say that I am a graduate of ECSU,”| she said.
