Gant'sarchitectual firm, which designed ECSU's Science Complex and the Marion D. Thorpe Administration Building, has grown to become one of the outstanding design firms in the Southeast. The Gala affair began with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and a dance. The University hosted a memorial march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 20. Participants from the community and the University assembled in front of the G.R. Little Library and marched to city hall. Following the march, there was an assembly at 2 p.m. in Moore Hall Auditorium. Guest speaker was Reverend William Barber, pastor of Fayette Street Christian Chruch, Disciples of Christ from Martinsville, Virginia. ECSU held its annual Black History Month Program assembly on Wednesday, February 12 at 2 p.m in Moore Hall Auditorium. The guest speaker was Congressman Edolphus Towns, 11th Congressional District of Brooklyn, New York. Towns, a native of Chadboum, N.C. is a member of the Energy & Commerce Cominittee, the Government Operations Committee, and the Select committee on Narcotics Abuse and Control. He is serving as Chairman of the Congressiorul Black Caucus for the 102nd Congress. Other Black History Month Activities included "Beyond The Dream IV" shown via satellite in Johnson Hall, Wednesday, February 5 at 1 p.m., the Evelyn A. Johnson African-American Choral Music Festival, held Sunday, February 9 m the K.E. White Graduate and Continuing Educational Center, and the 1 st Annual N AACP African Tribute sponsored by the Elizabeth City Chapter of NAACP Wedne held February 12 in Moore Hall Auditorium. The Fifth Annual Colloquim was held on Tuesday, February 18th in Lester Hall. Guest speaker was Mr. Robert Willis, Professor of Computer Science at Hampton University. The University Players will present Bus Stop, a romantic cornedy by February 19-23, at 8 p.m. in the Little Theatre.
