site by making it much more inter
active and a place where members
can share ideas.
Another goal is to develop a
stronger relationship with stud
ents hoping to become journalists.
In the late 1970's and early 1980's,
Curry served as founding director
of high school journalism work
shops in St. Louis, Washington, DC,
ana New York. "I'd like to see us
do more with both high school
and college students, " Curry says.
Curry has mentored hundreds of
students throughout his career,
including; Ann Scales, White
House correspondent for the
Boston Globe; Andre Jackson,
business editor of the St. Louis
Post-Dispatch; Eric Clark, manag
ing editor of the St. Louis
American; Mark Russell, assistant
managing editor of the Cleveland
Plain Dealer; Russ Mitchell,
reporter / anchor CBS News;
Bennie Currie, a reporter for the
Associated Press in Chicago;
Celeste Garrett, and editor for the
Chicago Tribune; and Betsy
Peoples an associate editor at

York bureau chief and a

career as a reporter for Sports
Illustrated and spent 11 years as a
reporter for the St. Louis Post-
