ECSU Chancellor Issues Self-Study Charge
The progress of any college or university is directly linked to
the efforts of many people. Major undertakings, such as the
SACS reaffirmation process, succeed only because of quality lea
dership and the campus-wide commitment of administrators,
faculty, and staff. At Elizabeth City State University, we work
hard to create the synergy needed among these groups to make
the University a viable and attractive place for the students
entrusted to us.
With the continued support of the university community, I am
confident that we will be well-postured to demonstrate our
effectiveness in pursuing our institutional mission before the vis
iting committee. To achieve our expected level of excellence, I
implore everyone to remain focused and to be responsive to
requests for your attendance at committee meetings and for the
materials needed to document the work of the principal
committees.
Our validation as a first-rate university will be determined by
the successful completion of our self-study, which will be used
by the visiting committee during its visit in April 2001. The suc
cess of this effort will not occur in a vacuum, rather it will come
as a result of our concerted efforts.
I appreciate your commitment, and hope that you will continue
to attach a high priority to our self-study process.
