CxC^» f f V r- W 4 M‘ > ' 4 f 4 The Compass November 3, 2000 Election 2000 by Amanda Parker Assistant Editor With November the 7th around the corner and with voter frustrations on the rise it is thus time for voters to participate in what is one of the closest presidential races in history. In short another president will be taking office, thus setting forth a new leader. So who do you want leading the country for the next four years? George W. Bush ?or A1 Gore? It is disappointing to learn that majority does not participate in voting and have no desire to do so when many of the issues that are fought daily could be addressed with the willingness to participate in voting and with the willingness to get a strong compitent leader ,with your similar behefs, in office . “Before you decide to affiliate yourself you must first decide what’s important to you, not your parents, co-workers, or friends. After decision has been made then select which party platform best George W. Bush supports your interest .Neither party will full-fill 100% of your needs however one party will tend to favor your beliefs ; that should be your party” said Pernell Bardett, proud Republican. With the assimulation of many ideas, values and beliefs, it is thus proper to distinguish the differing issues of each candidate. Gore believes in mandatory background checks and child safety locks. He would like to ban partial birth abortions, except for maternal health. He believes in renewable energy ,instead of nuclear power. He believes hate crimes stigmatizes whole groups enforced as civil rights. He would hke to fund and enforce the Disabihties Act. He believes Affirmative Action should be mended, instead of ended it. Gay Rights :find some way for civic union ,but not gay marriage Support same sex partnerships. In regards to crime he believes 50,000 more police are needed to cut the crime rate for next 10 yrs.. he believes in death penalty for deterrence, but carefully. He schools for inherent values. In beheves the U.S. military is best regards to Affirmative Action he in history of the world. He believes science doesn’t say medical marijuana is proper. He would like to make annually 10, 000 of college tuition tax deductible. He holds entertainment mdustry accountable and he would like to have more restrictions on underage smoking. Bush believes every child born and unborn ought to be protected. Despite prosperity”It’s time for a change in believes Affirmative Access means a fair shot for everyone. He believes in tolerance and equal rights;not gay marriage and special rights No Gay adoptions Death Penalty for deterrence, not revenge. BeUeves mihtary mission has become fuzzy “Party affiliation should never be dictated by ones color but by one’s behef.” said Bartlett. “My advice would be to Ai Gore Washington. He would hke to read editorials, and to listen to clarify rules to allow for more news commentairys to get the nuclear power generation. He facts from various organition s believes in enforcing civil rights, reform education, and help people achieve He believes the Ten Commandments are ok in on both canidates”.
