At the beginning of the season, it
was predicted that the Lady Vikings
would be the team to beat in the CIAA.
At first it looked as if this prediction
by people close to the conference would
come true, but shortly after the season
started, the team suffered two key
losses at the guard position.
Point guard, Raquita Washington
and shooting guard, Kristy Zigler, both
backcourt starters and potential play
ers of the fall year went down early in
the season with injuries.
"We lost a lot of leadership when
Raquita and Kristy went down with
season ending injuries," said head
coach, Vanessa Taylor. The Lady Vi
kings still have another pre-season All-
CIAA candidate however in Daminica
Moody. Moody is the team's leading
scorer and averagesfovirteen points per
game, and she is also the team's lead
ing rebounder with nine boards per
game.
"We still have a chance to make a
run at championship, but we must
come to play everyday, and we all must
give 100 percent," said Moody.
The Lady Vikings know that win
ning the eastern division will be a long
shot, where they currently rank third
and sixth in the conference overall. Tay
lor said she hopes that the team can be
ready for the CIAA tournament.
"Any team at any time could win the
CIAA tournament," said Taylor. "Any
team who can get on that winning
streak could go into Raleigh and walk
away with the trophy."
If the Lady Vikings can pull together
and make their inside and outside
game work, they could very well sur
prise everyone and walk away as the
CIAA champions.

Herds of people are drawn into Wil
liams Hall. Some there to participate in
the sports and others are there to ob
serve. The reason why everyone is there
is because Williams Hall is the facility
that serves as the heart of the
University's Intramural Sports Pro
gram.
The Intramural Sports Program had
a successful semester this fall and with
the addition of three new activities, the
number of participants have increased.
Out of the nine activities, 1,042 stu

Among them were men and women
Volleyball, Flag Football, Powder Puff

tournament for the past two years and
finished in the top 10 out of 73 colleges
and universities.
"The Intramural sports staff would
like to thank everyone who has par
ticipated and cooperated with our
staff," said Coach Harrell. "We would
like for everyone to know that the stu
dent activities staff has played a major
role in the success of this program."
Other sports will be offered for the
spring semester. These will include:
men and women basketball, tennis, co
