WHO WILL BE ECSU’S NEXT LEADING LADY?

Miss Chrystal Foust
Miss Crystal Foust, a native of
Richmond, Virginia, is a 1999 graduate
of Henrico County High School. Foust is
an ECSU junior pursuing a double major
in Business Administration and Account
ing.
Foust is a member of Students in
Free Enterprise, The University Choir,
National Association of Black Accoun
tants, and the Praise Team at the Word
of Reconciliation Church in Elizabeth
City, North Carolina where she regularly
attends service.
“I desire to run for Miss ECSU
because I could help build the confi
dence in students. Miss ECSU should
be familiar with staff, faculty and the

student body. Her presence should be
welcomed at board meetings so she
could give her insight from a student’s
perspective,” said Foust, who was moti
vated by her friends to run for Miss
ECSU.
After graduating from ECSU, she
plans to attend graduate school to re
ceive a master’s degree in Business
Finance. She wants to be a financial
analyst and planner so that she can help
people invest their money wisely.
Foust’s personal motto is: “regard
less of were you are in your life there is
no reason for believers to be dismayed
because God has everything worked out.”
Miss Tanyetta Pittman

ECSU junior, MissTanyetta Pittman,
Is a native of Newport News, Virginia.
She majors in Business Administration
with a concentration in marketing and
management information systems. Her
involvement on campus includes VANS
(Vikings Assisting New Students), Phi
Beta Lambda Business Organization,
Students In Free Enterprise, and Black
Executive Exchange Programs Partici
pant. She was on the 2000-2001 ECSU
Voter Registration Committee. She also
helped to organize the Allen Iverson
Weekend Tournament in Hampton,
Virginia.
“Running for Miss ECSU is a
personal goal that I always wanted to
fulfill. Holding this position is an honor.
Miss ECSU should be allowed to have a
say in student activity decisions. I would
want the student body to be comfortable
with me to the point that they can come
to me with their concerns,” said Pittman.
Pittman’s future plans are to be a
sports marketing executive and to later
volunteer her marketing experiences to
non-profit organizations to create celeb
rity sports events.
Her personal motto is: “a wise man
does not become a jack-of-all trades
because he will become the master of
nothing.”
THIS YEAR’S VOTING PROCESS
Student Activities Report
This year the selection process will
be a combination of student vote (50%),
Showcase scores (40%), and interview
scores (10%). All candidates were
interviewed by a panel of students and
employees on March 21, 2002. The
Showcase will be held on Wednesday,
April 24, 2002, 7:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts
Auditorium, and student voting will occur
on Wednesday April 24 and Thursday,
April 25 during the SGA/Class Officer
Elections. Mr. & Miss ECSU 2002-2003

Tracey Johnson, a junior native of
Lewiston, North Carolina and a proud
graduate of Bertie High School, is pursu
ing a degree in Business Administration
with a concentration in marketing and
hospitality management.
Her on and off campus activities
include Students in Free Enterprise,
which she holds the position of presi
dent, Who’s Who Among American
Colleges and Universities, Student
Activity Advisory Board, Student Activity
Counsel, Viking Video Review Commit
tee, and Traffic Review Committee.
Johnson is also a member of the First
Baptist Church of Kelford in Kelford,
North Carolina.
“I want to run for Miss ECSU be
cause I want to be a role model for
young women on and off campus. My
inspiration comes from my grandmother

Johnson.
“Miss ECSU should be an ambas
sador for the University. She should be
friendly and make people feel comfort
able around her. Her role should go
beyond the campus and into the commu
nity as a symbol to young women show
ing them that education is the turning
key to a successful future,” she added.
Her personal motto is: “if you’re
going to pray don’t worry and if you’re
going to worry don’t pray.” After graduat
ing she would like to attend the Univer
sity of Chicago and receive her MBA.

Miss
LaQuishaTlsdal, a pative from New
Bern, North Carolina is a graduate from
New Bern High School. She is a junior
English major with a minor in Pre-Law.
Her involvement on campus in
cludes the PickWick Society, VANS
(Vikings Assisting New Students), which
she holds the position of president for
both clubs, and Sigma Tau Delta. She
attends the Guiding Light Apostolic
Church of Christ in Camden County,
North Carolina and works as a photo lab
technician at CVS Pharmacy in the
Southgate mall.

prestigious position comes from my
church family and me attending the Miss
ECSU showcases and coronations in the
past. I believe that Miss ECSU is more
than a position. She should have a voice
in student activity decision-making and
whatever happens on campus,” said
Tisdal.
Tisdal’s personal motto is: “the Lord
is my light and my salvation; whom shall
I fear?^The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1.”
After graduating she would like to attend
law school at Regent University in
Virginia Beach, Virginia.
