The Compass Tuesday, October 22, 2002 ( HEALTH ) WOMEN, BEWARE Delta Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is observing Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October. All females should follow all detective methods and should know the signs, symptoms, and risk factors. Things to Remember: 1. Early detection is your best protec tion. 2. The biggest risk factors for breast cancer are being a woman and being age 50 or older. 3. When found and treated in its earli est stage, breast cancer is highly curable. 4. You should get a screening mam mogram every year starting at age 40. 5. You should give yourself a breast self-exam every month starting at 20. 6. A clinical breast exam should be given every year if you are age 40 or over; and every 3 years for women between 20 and 39. Since then, the scholarship has gone over $20,000.00. Ms. Mouring would like to increase it to at least $100,000.00.
