Honors Four Vikings

Elizabeth City State’s
fall sports received news from
the Central Intercollegiate
Athletic Association with the
All-Conference football team
announced.
Defensive lineman Maceo
Thomas was named to the
first team All-CIAA after
recording 65 tackles and 3.5
sacks. As a junior, Thomas
had the first score of the year
for ECSU when he recovered
a fumble in the end zone
against Livingstone in the first
game of the season. Thomas
ranked fifth in the CIAA with
15.5 tackles for loss.

Emanuel Plummer
Posey, a senior, helped control
ECSU’s offensive line that led
to 126.6 yards rushing per
game. As a unit, the offensive
line allowed just 23 sacks in
10 games.
Steven Posey
Moore was among the CIAA
leaders with 7.5 sacks, and
tallied 49 tackles.

made the second team; they
include: offensive lineman
Steven Posey, defensive
lineman Greg Moore and
linebacker Emanuel Plummer.

The sophomore was fourth in
the conference with 16.5
tackles for losses. Plummer,
a junior, ranked near the top
of the league in tackles all
season, finishing sixth witii 83
stops.

The Interview went a lot
quicker that I thought it
would. I wasn’t nervous but
really excited. After I asked
my questions, as much as I
didn’t want to, I had to say

ECSU past and present students interviewed by ESPN

Elizabeth City State
University’s football players,
Emmanuel Plummer and
Johnnie Walton were
interview by ESPN recently
for a segment that will air
during the half time of the
2005 Pioneer Bowl on
Saturday, December 3.
Walton and Plummer, were
interviewed at the CIAA
headquarters in Hampton
VA. The two sat down in front
of an ESPN interviewer and
camera crew, to «hare their
experience of playing in the
CIAA and more.
Plummer a standout for the
past season was named
CIAA Defensive Lineman of
the Week twice this season
and was named to the 2005
All-CIAA Defensive Second
Team. Plummer tied at 5th
overall in the CIAA in total
tackles and led the Vikings in
tackles this past season.
Walton, who is a former
ECSU student of the Class of
1969, was a four-year
startins quarterback for the
Vikings, after named All-
CIAAhis senior year, he went
on to play professionally for
the Los Angeles Rams and
the Philadelphia Eagles.
Walton was inducted into the
ECSU Hall of Fame on
October 25, 1985. He was
recently re-elected to another
term as the 4th Ward City
Councilman for Elizabeth
City.
The Pioneer Bowl wUl include

Athletic Conference (SIAC)
against Bowie State

Yellow Jackets
Men’s basketball defeated,
by the West Virginia State
Yellow Jackets 92-67

The Vikings Men’s
Basketball team was
defeated by the West Virginia
State Yellow Jackets 92-67
onFriday, November 25th at
the 2005 Embassy Suites
Classic.
At the end of the first half, the
Vikings found themselves
down 50-28, mainly because
the Yellow Jackets shot 68%
from the field (22-32). In the
second half they continued
their strike of shooting 62%
(38-61) from the floor
including 50% beyond the
arc.
The Vikings struggled to find
their offense shooting 39%
(25-64) for the game while
connecting only 5 of 23
attempts from long range.
Four members of the Yellow
Jackets placed in double
figures led by Ted Scott’s 21
points.

of 17 points against the
